I think it’s safe to say, we’re having the summer of our LIVES! 🧡🛟🌊

Here’s the official New Braunfels itinerary:

☀️ Apply your first layer of sunscreen
🧴 Apply your second layer of sunscreen
🧴 Apply approximately 8 more layers of sunscreen
🛟 Float the Comal River
🌊 Survive the tooooob chute
🏖️ Rent a cabana
😂 Lose track of time
🤙🏽 Have the best day ever

10/10 recommend, will float again.

Some of these people hadn’t spoken in 40 years.

Some had never met.

For my entire life, old differences kept parts of our family apart. Stories were left untold. Relationships were left unfinished. Faces existed only in photographs.

Then last week, everything changed in Cibolo, TX.

It took more than four decades to bring us back to the same table. What followed was something I’ll carry with me forever.

Sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews traveled from across the states to meet each other for the first time or to reconnect since being children themselves.

Stories had waited decades to be told. Forty years of distance shrinking with every conversation, every tear shed, every hug, every shared memory.

For the first time, I sat in a room full of people who looked like me, laughed like me, and wanted to know everything about the years we’d missed together.

We gathered at my aunt’s restaurant, @kindlingtexaskitchen, where Chef Efren filled the tables with incredible food while our family filled the room with something even more meaningful: connection.

I’ve replayed that weekend in my head a hundred times since coming home. I cry not because of what we had lost, but because of what we found again.

Sometimes life takes families in different directions. But every once in a while, love finds a way to bring us back together. 🤙🏽

If only we could freeze this moment. 🥹🫶🏼 Happy birthday, Ri! We had the most memorable time at the @mnstatefair celebrating his first birthday. New traditions, unlocked. 🍭🍪🥓
