Next PopUp is Saturday 11/15 at @understoryoakland It’s the anniversary of my cinderblock smoker burning up, and my Fam/community rallying to raise money to buy me a proper large offset smoker. It’s also my BDay, realized I be kicking it in these streets way too much…

Theo! Big congrats on receiving your brown belt!

Theo began his jiu jitsu journey over two decades ago, and even after all that time, he's still one of the students most excited to learn. When he first came to Breakdown, he was a bit wild, but is now someone that can roll with anyone, he can meet a day one white belt where they are at and can safely handle the toughest rolls. He's at the gym almost every day and it's been really awesome for us all to witness how much he's progressed in the time we've known him.

Theo is such a big part of Breakdown, both figuratively and literally. He showed up no questions asked, and helped with the buildout when we were constructing the new gym. He has a a heart of gold, is uniquely himself and we absolutely love having him on the team. We can't imagine Breakdown without him.

Congratulations, Theo! 👏

Last Saturday we had a belt promotion ceremony at Breakdown! Our students put so much time and effort into their training, and we’re grateful to have had a day to honor everyone’s hard work and progress. It was an awesome afternoon of training, grilling burgers, hanging out, and celebrating with the team.

A big thank you to all the friends and family who came out and made the day even more memorable. Also shout out to all the coaches and upper belts who share their knowledge and experience with the team, they help us all get a little bit better every day. We’re so proud of all the students and thankful for all the wonderful people and excellent training partners who make Breakdown such a special place to train.

For those who couldn’t make it, we felt your support in spirit. Congratulations to everyone on their promotions!🎉🥋

Six weeks ago, my son Rocky came into our lives—and to mark the moment, I started a simple push-up challenge: 50 push-ups every time he eats. I shared it on Instagram, and to my surprise, 25 people joined in. Thank you to everyone who took part—it really meant a lot. We ended up doing roughly 300–500 push-ups a day, which was very cool. Out of this me and my friend Daouda are planning more challenges soon. Be on the lookout. And thank you to @mariapapathanasiou for counting me down everyday. #bigchallengesonly ( also tagging @olmosound @steve_bramucci @styxbandit @roccomoon @yungraja @original_todd )

This is the 2001 location spot where I filmed @goapele
“Closer” original music video. 2005 I then uploaded it to my YouTube channel when YouTube launched. Should I do a part two to the location of the lighting spot? That is a story of its own. Once I find the master files I will do another digitally remaster version upscale the original video to 4k and better color correction.
