The Last Splore Pt. 2

We are slowly watching the shitification of everything in our lives. The fast food / supermarket model has taken over festivals too. Lineups that look the same, featuring artists who look the same, and sound the same, performing inside giant billboards that are being passed off as stages.

Splore will remain forever as a testament to what is possible when you lead with community, art, intention and music.

Thank you @te.kotuku @fredinski_ @half.queen @splorefestival

@splorefestival SPLORE FESTIVAL 2026 🪭💃🏻🤩❤️😎🤖🐳👣🧞🕺🏻👩🏽‍🦽🦄

All the feels, not so many late nights, family & friends, teenagers at the gig, feeling good, connected, bathed in the ocean, a sea of people, safe, happy, grateful. HUMANING

Thanks to Jamie Larnach @dastardlybounder @jamie_larnach_artist Annie Larnach, Amanda Wright and their team from 1998.

Aotearoa New Zealand’s longest running largest music and arts festivals. The first Splore I recall well (I did not know Jamie, Annie or Amanda at that time) but was there with friends in common. Our generation and those after us have grown up with this festival.

So many have shared joy, hard work, happiness, dance, costumes, sunshine, rain and mud play here.

I know Jamie was shaped by his festival experiences as a child with his parents at Nambassa in the 1970’s (I was there with my father too. This is how we clicked. Turns out our fathers had friends and music taste in common), it’s been lovely to share a life for the last 7 years with someone so passionate about music, art, culture and collective wellbeing.

I wonder what will morph or continue of this amazing legacy. We know not how many kids have Splore dust in their bones and what will manifest...

In the meantime arohanui Splore Festival
THANK YOU 🐙🤩🫶

Splore Festival 2026-
Lagoon Stage- Friday 6pm! 💃
Wow! It was magical to say the least- ✨🌈✨ Thank you-Ngā Mihi to all the dancers and for @te.kotuku for bringing me to the stage! The incredible energy created scenes of joy! Wow!
My surprise (to me) last song that said ‘play me’ when I was searching-Gospel House at its finest summoning a rainbow across the water and bringing me to tears! So much to be grateful for in getting to play at this ‘Last Splore’— I have so much to say, but will just leave this here for you to enjoy.
Forever etched into our hearts and psyche…the legacy of Splore and living life in its afterglow will forever be a blessing to us all..
-although I had tech issues, I think the feeling that was delivered was good enough to forget about all that! 😆🪩💃

Post Splore, the last week has been filled with memories. My social feeds have been awash with beautiful photos and stories from a festival that will now live on as a legacy. As we land back in the “real” world, the afterglow of an epic weekend is still very much with us.

It has been a privilege to work with the incredible Splore crew and a leadership team, @te.kotuku and @fredinski_ who truly lead from the heart. From the Rum Shack in 2010, curated by me and my then partner, to Wendy’s Wellness over the last eight years, my journey with Splore has been deeply transformational. Having the opportunity to attend so many gatherings and also work behind the scenes has been incredibly special.

I have loved the freedom to shape Wendy’s Wellness into a space that complemented the rest of the festival, somewhere people could drop in, reconnect, and take a moment to nourish themselves. Of course none of it happens without an amazing team. Heart led, supportive, and always ready to bring their magic. Thank you to all the facilitators, practitioners, musicians, and performers who have shared their gifts in both Wendy’s Wellness and After Dark over the years. Your energy, presence, and generosity have been the heartbeat of the space.

Special thanks to my darling husband @brett.crockett Brett Crockett for your continued love, support and incredible visuals. To @dizziepixiedesigns @amanda.jane.spa @tha_rustla , thank you for being an integral part of the journey. And an extra big thank you to my wonderful assistant @barclaytasha .Your patience, care, and steady support this year have meant so much.

Thank you to everyone who brought their heart, their energy, and their presence. The Wendy’s Wellness /Splore family continues well beyond the festival, and I am so excited for what’s next❤️
