We have done all the graduation things and I’m of course left wondering how we got here so quickly. Sawyer brings all the excitement, noise, and energy to our house. He makes everyone feel seen and loved. He always asks me about my day and finds me to say goodnight with a hug. He’s always been full of life and so much light, and I know it’s time for him to share it with the world. He has the spirit of adventure deep in his bones— I just hope he always comes home eventually. In the fall he’s going to Blacksburg to start his study of meteorology, but he’s not sure if he can be away from the waves and his first love of surfing. Will football and the mountains win him over? Only time will tell. He’s taking it one step at a time, and I love that he knows he can change his mind as he decides what works best for him. Parenting him has filled me with so much joy and gratitude and honestly sheer delight— he reminds me of everything good in the world. My prayer for Sawyer: “May his presence go before you, and behind you, and beside you, all around you, and within you, he is with you, he is with you.” 💙💛
