Proprioception

Quentin Haupt

mixed media sculpture: video, ink mono prints, chalk, size 10.5/ 9.5/ 6.5 shoes, football, wooden pallets, concrete parking block, plaster object, traces of 10 human people.

Proprioception, this is the body's “sixth” sense. It is your awareness of how the body moves and its location within the environment. This piece is an exploration of human movement through the built environment. Through mixed media sculpture the viewer will be pulled into a reclaimed perspective of how one can traverse through the environment.
Quentin Haupt's playful and expressive performative work is inspired by unconventional approaches to making art. Inspired by Fluxus artists, Yoko Ono, and the dancer Kanti, his work explores urban environments and reclaims and repurposes built spaces. His use of materials, textures, shapes, and forms invite participants to move and touch.
