The @assnats2026 where held in Newcastle last weekend. While I only made it to Friday, they were held over the whole weekend. It was a great time. Some take outs include the Australian Single Speed community is alive and well, riding bikes is rad and hopefully I can make it to WA for 2027! For a full in depth write up of the weekend head to Flow MTB for an a great article 📸 @flow_mtb & Mick Ross #ssmtbcommunity #ssmtb #assnats2026 #onegear #community

Ok… so this is either 1/ a primer for the Australian Single Speed Nationals, or 2/ solace for missing the Australian Single Speed Nationals.

I’d encourage any single-speeder, or single-speed curious, to do The Hunt. Train for a year and you’ll be amazed at who you can be.

The bikes are simple, easy to maintain, and robust by nature. There’s a lot of hike-a-bike out there — and “your gears don’t care that you’re walking.” 😊

There have to be more than a handful of single-speed riders out there with the passion to do The Hunt. The terrain is beautiful, so why get distracted by changing gears? 🚲

Reckon the inaugural #vertCamp went pretty well, all things considered.

Thanks Lutruwita/Tassie.

Celebrated my 31st bday with some of the biggest cuties I know at the @bottlesandchainsfd Australian Single Speed Nationals (ASS Nats 🍑). The song for this one’s pretty on the nose, but it’s as goofy and playful as the event. Such a friendly atmosphere, and incredible riding that showed off the best of so-called Canberra (whose true custodians include the Ngunnawal, Ngambri, and Ngarigu people). Big shout outs to the organisers, @bacon_bitzz our SS champ, and @anniefrannytee and @vapesandtofu for finishing Cloud Ride on Thursday eve!
