I think I have cried out in prayer more times the last two weeks then the two months before that combined. Military moves (or PCS for short) are no joke. We are excited for all the new adventures coming, but sad about leaving our friends. We maybe look forward to not having to cook while getting per diem, but don’t want to let go of control. We are self reflecting on all we did while at our current home, and overwhelmed by all we need to do in the short term before we leave. It’s no small mountain that we need to climb, but never forget you aren’t climbing it alone. He will hold you on the days when you need to cry, and then He will help you climb. 💙 One of the biggest helps for PCSing in our family’s MANY military moves has been discovering @teamboxops moving label system. This military spouse company figured out a way to make the move in day 10x easier! Whether I’m doing a PPM (packing myself) or HHG (the military hires movers), I put her labels on every box! Then come move in day I put the matching door handle labels on and give the simple instruction to the movers: set the box down only in the matching label door and up against the walls. So while they are calling out box numbers and I’m checking them off on the massive list, I’m not also overwhelmed by needing to think of where that particular thing should go. Or worse (like I did on our first PCS) not say anything and be left with a chaotic maze 😖😵‍💫 So if you are PCSing this year do yourself two favors 1. Remember He’s got you And 2. SO, our family was blessed with a double-PCS year! Lolllllll🙃 Our first PCS was in January and we’re about to head out again (see ya soon, Fort Campbell!) Here’s a few things I’ve done differently this time around that have made this PCS —and my life— just a little bit easier: 1. Made a visual to see realistic available packing time —THIS has saved me. We’re a family of 6 and let me tell you…just in the last 2 weeks we’ve have 24 appointments between us. TWENTY-FOUR. And guess who gets to be the taxi??🚕😂 So, this kept me on track and made timely packing super attainable. I feel like I’m coasting now during these final few days!🗓️ 2. Called Parent Central to export our household —Now I’ll be able to walk right in and set my kids up for fall sports⚽️🏈🏀🥎 3. Called Tricare to update our move BEFORE leaving —Now I don’t feel like I’m waiting a million years to get them an appointment with their new PCM and transferring our prescriptions/continuity of care👩🏼‍⚕️ 4. Used Box Ops to label boxes @teamboxops —I LOVE the color coordination of the boxes and that I have the capability of specifying what’s in the boxes, as well. It’s definitely going to make the unloading process easier to figure out what goes in which room. It’s a PPM/DITY Dream organization tool!📦 5. Joined Facebook groups for organizations on post —I already feel connected and in the loop about what end of summer/back to school events are happening. The Past ✌🏼 Weeks: ▪️My baby fell asleep on me for the first time in forever🥹 ▪️Still making our way to our favorite library📚 ▪️Our boys are loving track🏃🏼‍♂️🏃🏻‍♂️ ▪️The Bigs and I went to see How to Train Your Dragon🎬🍿🐉 ▪️Getting in all sorts of appointments🦷🪥 ▪️ALL THE WHILE PACKING📦 Shoutout @teamboxops for keeping me organized!! ▪️Can’t say I’m going to miss all the JUMP scares while @ppeetteerrsulli is watching the Panthers🏆 ▪️I got to meet my friend @_lexy.m IRL & her sweet babygirl Grace😍 We’re besties forever now🫶🏼 The proof? We already happened to be wearing our friendship bracelets from @daintyforces 🥰 ▪️I was bummed that I didn’t get to grow a garden this summer, but I’ve seen SO many beautiful flowers lately😭🌻🥰 ▪️The boys got some funny mail from their Papa🤪 ▪️Every time I go for a walk I see this tree. Tell me you see it too👁️🌲 ▪️We got to go on a quick date after a day off where we sat next to each other on the couch and literally did nothing all day. I had a fleeting thought and I said to Peter, “What an ordinary day? I think we needed that. We really should be more grateful for all the ordinary days we get, because really —what a gift?” …little did I know what the weekend would bring. ▪️The last Little Sulli graduated PreK. We were ALL feeling the feels. There’s just something so special watching your (at times) painfully shy child get up on stage, sing, dance, and be brave😭🥹 ▪️The Army may be moving us around a lot this year, but the Lord always provides and puts the right people in your path —sometimes they happen to be right next door! And go to school with you! Lol🖤🖤🖤 Fast friendships are so worth it, even if the “see you laters” are hard🥹 ▪️Well. Peter had to study today…but I thought, hey! I’ll take the kids up to the Air & Space Museum! ….LOTS OF HOURS OF TRAFFIC LATER and about $30 of Astronaut Ice Cream, 1 picture, and 20 minutes in we had an epic meltdown….not naming any KNnnnames👀😂 We all decided, “K we’re done.” And drove in lots of hours of traffic home💀😂 Happy Sunday, Friends☀️ Praying for more Ordinary Days for us all🖤🫶🏼

This topic might seem contradictory…how do you really make a PCS less stressful? Especially when it can consume every part of your life for months beforehand. Honestly, sometimes you can’t. A CONUS move usually means months of prep work: sorting household goods vs. unaccompanied baggage, scheduling countless appointments, and navigating the logistics of the whole thing. We’ve been there. I may have even blocked out the actual 36 hours of our move and travel from the States to Germany, it was that intense. Oddly enough, our move back to the U.S. went more smoothly. Things were more chaotic on paper, but because we’d done it before, we knew more of the unknowns and felt better equipped. That’s the thing, PCS season is always stressful. And life doesn’t stop for it. Normal and unexpected life still continues, layered on top of it all. Now that our littles are getting older, we’re realizing just how true that last point is: PCS season isn’t just about logistics, it’s emotional.
