What a great day today was! Coached some kids jits class, our adult class then finished off the evening with a fun roll with the boss, he took it easy on me like always 🙂. Home for a killer ribeye and all the other goods. I’m blown away by all the posts, messages, texts and DM’s that I got from so many friends today. Thank you all!! 60th birthday is in the books!! 🤙🏼🙏🏼👊🏼

‘Ohana Shoutout @e.sipe_culinary40 🤙🏽

Some things are just better when you have someone beside you.
For Ethan, that person has always been his father.

His dad has always been a source of strength in his life. So when he saw his dad doing Jiu Jitsu, it made him want to get out there and try it for himself.
Not just to learn the sport, but to have another journey they could share.

Now Jiu Jitsu is something they get to do together.
Another challenge.
Another place to learn.
Another way to keep growing alongside each other.

About a year and two months into his own journey, Ethan is a four-stripe white belt and still figuring out what works for him on the mats. Lately, he’s been focused on finding the parts of his game he’s good at and building from there.

And that same mindset carries into his life outside of Jiu Jitsu.

Ethan is a full-time chef at La Quinta Resort, where he’s continuing to grow in his craft, learning new techniques, flavors, and ways to become better at what he does.

Two very different worlds, but a lot of the same things at the center of both: curiosity, patience, hard work, and a willingness to keep learning.

And then there’s the community.
One of the things Ethan has come to love about Jiu Jitsu is how welcoming the people are, even outside his own dojo. Everywhere he’s gone, he’s found people willing to encourage, help, and share the journey.

That’s something we understand.

Jiu Jitsu may bring us to the mats, but the people we meet along the way are a huge part of why we stay.

Ethan, we’re grateful you’re part of the Nakoa family and excited to see where this journey takes you, and where it takes you and your dad together.

We're excited to cheer you on this weekend as you compete in the Orange County Open this Saturday! 🔥

Keep showing up. Keep learning. Keep growing.

No one fights alone.
Train with meaning. Fight with soul.

We are Nakoa Fight Club.

No Fear 10.10.2026
Not the results I wanted but man it felt great to be back out there. Coming back from an ankle break is a bit unnerving but I did it for the experience with my son and wife. Moments I’ll never take for granted and lessons only learned through trying. I’ll take a million losses if it teaches my son to win. To never give up, to never quit, to show up and to be brave. Fear did not defeat me today. Thank you to my lovely wife for all your support. I love you with all my heart. Thank you to all my teammates at @teamcvbjj. My main dogs @sdot_pro @yjjsromen @jsnav @stache1988 @joe.z28. Last but not least @anthonymantanona76 thank you for being an incredible role model and inspiration throughout this journey. On to the next!
