I’ve struggled with anxiety and depression most of my life. I love seeing mental health rep in books because it’s helped me so much to see characters like me who get their HEA. If you’re looking for a book with mental health rep, here are some of my favorites.

🎃✨️Spooky Book Tag✨️🎃

First, thank you @bookedbybrie and @books.with.love24 for this fun content idea! I saw it and just had to do it myself too 😍

There were so many of my favorite books I could use for this one! And yes, Chase Me If You Can isn't necessarily nostalgic on its own but to me it is being a native Kansan 😅 I always got asked why would I live somewhere called Tornado Alley on purpose...first we all watched them outside and two it's not like it's a daily occurrence.

Also, I'm SUPER EXCITED for all the books on my Boogeyman slide 🎉🎉🎉🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🤩🤩🤩

How's your spooky October reading going?

september reading wrap

The month of September was incredibly busy, but still managed to bring me 18 books by 15 authors, with 5 being new-to-me authors, 4 ARCs, and approximately 1,400 miles (2,253 kilometers) traveled.

There were books that made me gasp, books that made me laugh, and books that wrecked me in the best way. All in all, I'd say it was a pretty successful month.

Have you read any of these? Or are there any on your TBR you're looking forward to? Hit me with your book recs for October!

𝐈𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝟓 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐁𝐥𝐮𝐞 𝐉𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐫, 𝐤𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 ➔

But honestly? You only need one: real men—real cowboys—wear Wranglers 😉

This 5 ⭐️ read by @authormaggiegates easily became one of my absolute favorite books this summer ☀️

The chemistry? The electric flirting and sheer determination to make each other smile? Unmatched. The moment Hayes locked eyes on Catherine, my apartment felt ten degrees hotter—I literally had to check the AC.

Their history made this arrangement hit so much deeper. Even with years of growing apart, that foundational trust was still there, anchoring everything they built together; even beyond the scorching heat, Maggie gave us exceptional character growth. They evolve individually just as much as they do as a couple. And can we talk about emotional maturity? When a conflict arises that genuinely hurts, instead of falling into frustrating third-act miscommunication, we get raw, honest, healthy adult communication.

I devoured every single page. Hayes and that man’s mouth… let’s just say “𝐞𝐲𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐦𝐞” is officially cemented as my favorite micro-trope 🥵🔥 Consider this your sign to bump 𝐁𝐥𝐮𝐞 𝐉𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐫 straight to the top of your TBR..Better yet? Drop whatever you’re reading right now and dive in!

🌾 Have you read Hayes and Catherine yet, or is this hitting your TBR today? Let me know in the comments!

I’m going to continue to make meeting @authormaggiegates a personality trait. When I got back from vacation and everyone asked what I did, I promptly pulled up this picture on my phone and said “This is a picture of me and USA Today Bestselling Author Maggie Gates at a prerelease event for her book Blue Jean Summer.”
I’m absolutely insufferable about it and I’m not sorry. Gotta hype her up every chance I get!

Give me a marriage of convenience where the husband is supposed to be faking it but is basically gone for his wife from day one. THAT is my kind of book. 😮‍💨

BLUE JEAN SUMMER by Maggie Gates gave me all the warm, small-town romance vibes I wanted, but Hayes and Catherine are what made this one for me.

Hayes is quiet, grumpy, reserved, and grieving the loss of his grandfather while trying to protect the Wilder Estate. Catherine is his sunshine counterpart—a former Honey Hollow girl turned pageant queen who comes home carrying grief, medical debt, and a whole lot of uncertainty about what comes next.

A contract marriage solves both of their problems.

Except somebody forgot to tell Hayes that he’s supposed to FAKE being in love with his wife.

The credit card. The PDA. The acts of service. The “my wife” energy. The “yes, ma’am.” The way he supports Catherine and stands firmly in her corner. And THE YEARNING. This man spends so much time thinking about how much he loves Catherine that I could have happily lived inside his head for another 300 pages.

I also loved the way Maggie Gates wrote Hayes’s neurodivergence. He internalizes so much, which made every quiet admission and small moment between them feel that much bigger. Catherine never tries to change him—she simply understands him, while also knowing exactly how to make that broody man crack a smile.

And Catherine! Sweet, sassy, determined Catherine. Watching her find purpose beyond the pageant crown and begin to realize she deserves the stability, acceptance, and love she’s been searching for was such a beautiful part of this story.

Warm, romantic, low-angst, full of found family, and featuring a fake husband who is fooling absolutely no one. I already want to go back to Honey Hollow. 💙
