Junior Draft Legal Nationals 2026 🇺🇸

Still can’t believe this day really happened. Going into this season I set two goals for myself: podium the junior series and podium at nationals. Both ambitious for a guy who had only raced one nationals two years ago and placed 22nd. I had just about everything happen to me over the course of this series: heavy sickness before Texas, burn out before Wisconsin, got taken out during Jenny Lee, and spent the weeks leading into Iowa trying to get healthy and fit again after crashing. My only solid result was a second place in Richmond as a result of a strong two man break and one of the best runs of my life. Going into my final junior race, I thought both of those had slipped between my fingers.

Race day came and stomach was in knots, mind was wandering, already thinking about college and next season, and disappointed that I let this happen to myself throughout the season. Then the gun went off… throughout the swim I started smelling the approaching rain, saw the lightning streaking across the sky, felt the droplets start to fall on my arms, and my excitement start to build in anticipation of a rainy race. Then an official was stopping us as we got out of the water. An hour and a half later we started back at the bridge and set off sprinting to T1 in the order we left the water. I got on the bike and one thought was running through my head: get to the front of the race and stay there. When I found myself half a lap in, surrounded by the three people I knew I could stay away with, a wave of relief washed over me; the one situation where I had a shot to podium had actually fallen into place. Our four man break put over 1:20 into the chasers before T2. From there I just believed in myself and ended up running my way to third place, also securing my third place finish in the series.

Huge congrats to Graham Hummel and Nate Hamilton on their first and second places respectively and shoutout for their’s and Elliot Hamilton’s work in the break.

Thank you to my @teammcelite coaches and my family for supporting me and helping me grow into who I am today.

Onto the next adventure…
