44 years ago today... MDC, SSD and Deep Wound, 8/21/82, Gallery East.

The third and last time I went to Gallery East. It might have been Deep Wound's first local show and it was only the second time I saw SSD. I spoke with Dave briefly--he mentioned meeting me in his book--but really met him for the first time at Rock Against Reagan the following spring.

I opened @mideastclub last night to an awesome crowd of about 12 and it went awesome! Thank you @cmel.zack for all these photos. Thanks @teamshredboston for the show. Hope to meet you next time. The #chickpeasandwich @cloverfoodlab was delicious and worth its weight in gold considering the $70 Uber rides to bring my equipment to play and go home. But folks it’s not just about the money, it’s about being heard and performing. I’ll be playing another show on February 7, in Allston. PM for the address. How much money would you pay @uber to play your heart out?

Michael Patrick MacDonald (author of All Souls) on being at SS Decontrol shows: “I was always at SS Decontrol shows, but I wasn’t really paying attention. That’s when it really became crazy - people jumping off the stage. It was total mayhem, and people wanted to get bloody! Springa was a friend of mine and Jaime Sciarappa also came from the punk scene pre-hardcore. I’d see him at the Rat. I’d see him in punk bands. But Al was this whole new breed of bald people.” MPM in an interview with Perfect Sound Forever. Photo by Philin Phlash. Jake Phelps, Dave Collins (DYS), and Shred @teamshredboston in the background.
