Ball on Back 1v1 is one of the many advantage finishing games that we like to teach. The setup for it is very simple: defensive player is facing the goal, while the offensive player has the ball on their back

This drill creates an advantage for the offense, and teaches to get downhill and finish under pressure. It also incentivizes quick decision making and getting TO the goal, which is something a lot of younger basketball players struggle with

Half court circle tag has been one of my favorites in the strength and conditioning world for a while now, but I’ve recently tried it with a basketball and I’ve really liked it

While the cutting and change of direction may not be full speed now, the reactivity aspect of this drill (something ball handling drills usually lack) makes for really good ball handling work.

Put one side as the tagger and one side as the runner and give an 8-10 second time limit. If they lose the ball, it’s an automatic point for the other side.

Try this one out!

This lane line 1 on 1 drill is one of my absolute favorites. There’s a major space constraint here that makes life tougher for the ball handler, and in turn improves dribbling under pressure

Additionally, this drill drives intent and incentivizes defensive effort by rewarding dribbles for changes of direction.

Works on so many important qualities and is a lot of fun. Give it a shot!

Being able to rapidly decelerate and change speeds makes taking defenders off the dribble significantly easier. Here’s a series we can work on to both improve the deceleration component, as well as the patient hang to break down a defender

We specifically were working on punch stops here, but there’s plenty of other ways to decelerate. I allowed the hang dribble to be anything; just had to float it to the second red dummy.

SERIES (all into jumpers):
1. Punch stop; hang; BTL
2. Punch stop; hang; behinds
3. Punch stop; hang; double move (creativity here)
4. Punch stop; hang into 3 (not pictured)

Needed 3 in a row before we moved on to the next series. But there’s many variables of progression that can be manipulated

Give these a try!

SESSION 1 IS A VIBE. SESSION 2 IS NEXT. 🔥🏐

We’ve had an absolute blast with Fall Session 1.

And now? We’re doing it again.

Check out our Session 2 Fall Clinics 🎉

Same great energy. New ways to challenge yourself.

We’re not starting over. We’re building on what we’ve learned and taking those skills into new drills, new challenges, and even more competitive gameplay.

🏐 Family Series
Our youngest athletes get to learn the game alongside their favorite grown-up. Passing, setting, serving, movement, confidence, and LOTS of fun.

🏐 Fall Clinics
For athletes who are new to volleyball or ready to sharpen their game. We’ll continue developing passing, serving, attacking, defense, and blocking, then put those skills to work through structured gameplay and real-game situations.

🏐 PLEX LAB: Rising Players | Session 2
For our intermediate and advanced athletes ready to push themselves. Focused player development + competitive gameplay = more opportunities to train it, apply it, compete with it.

Session 1 gave us a foundation. Session 2 is where we build on it.

New reps. New challenges. New ways to play.

And yes, we're still here to work hard, compete hard, and have a ridiculously good time doing it.

Fall Session 2. Let’s run it back. 🔥

📅 October & November

Backboard taps are foundational to building coordination and touch around the rim, especially for off hand development

Great part about this drill is that it can be regressed and progressed in so many different ways. A few of which are shown in this video, but there are plenty of other ways to manipulate the drill into making it easier or more difficult

Go try it out!
