Quick trip to the Keys for a few of my favorite things. Weather wasn’t the best but made the most of it.

Followed up on the big fish with this trifecta a few days ago - 210, 196 & 174 lbs for a 193 lb average in one afternoon of fishing. Three fish for five bites. One of those days that go beyond even our wildest dreams. Final tally for the week is 6 swords in 4 trips.

Day of a lifetime over the weekend… 445 lb and 376 lb swords in a single day! (We fished separate boats) The “bigger” one was a 9 hour battle on the hand crank Talica 50 and Seeker 4x. We also had another 200 lber at the gaff, but that one earned its freedom. So thankful for every opportunity at this incredible fish.

After getting our fill of wahoos last weekend, we decided our next trip would be a swordfish shakedown to check our gear and get the lay of the land with our friend Malcolm. Safe to say things are looking pretty good, as our buoy got sideways in short order. After a fun fight, we were home in time to round out a perfect October day with some lobsters. Can’t think of a better time to be a fisherman in the Southern California bight!

The last fish you would think of hooking up to. While deep dropping with chicken rigs in Bimini we got hooked up nasty the drag on the @lindgren_pitman was screaming 😆 rod bent and head shakes left and right. What could it be? The minute it got close enough to see that black fin I knew what it was. A Sailfish! But wait out here while deep dropping at no more 1,200ft well yup Sailfish it was and it was a fish caught and safely released.

While picking up to reset after our first drift this fish piled on the bait at 800ft. Epic way to break in the Kobo, one and done. #BonusDaze #elrojos #swordfish #joebiting #deepdrop
