What a journey, about 35km in I noticed the stomach didn’t feel to great and just kept an eye on it. Everything else felt phenomenal.
Then at the 60mark, the stomach decided enough is enough and decided not to allow anything in. Legs felt phenomenal, just the gut failed me. I will get better at this sh**.

It was a warm one out there for the Melbourne Half (as you’ve no doubt heard) 🥵 but the legs held up and the vibes stayed high.

Not gonna lie, my @teamvaga_aus Pacer cap did a bit of quiet heavy lifting - kept the sun off, soaked up the sweat, and just makes me feel ready to go. Underrated bit of kit if you ask me.

Larapinta Section 6

Hugh Gorge Junction to Ellery Creek North via Rocky Gully.

Terrain was moderate but came with risks of heat stroke, dehydration and snakes. 35d degrees on trail in the NT can feel anywhere from 5 -10 degrees more with the sun bouncing off the rocks and ground.

We both had 2 water bottles , one always had electrolytes and other with water. We also carried a C-Noc 3L water bladder.

With the heat it was important for us to leave camp as early as we could to avoid hiking in high noon.

We’ve seen amazing images of Ellery, we can’t wait to get there.

First day of hiking the Larapinta trail with my wife did not disappoint.

Having not explored the NT, the beauty of the red centre blew me away. It wasn’t easy, but it sure was rewarding.

The full trail is 11 sections, and as we can’t be away from the kids for too long, we are Starting at Section 5 and finishing up at Section 10, Ormiston Gorge.

We were the last couple out on the trail due to the weather being extreme. Luckily Brad from @LarapintaShuttle was a legend and supported us on this trip with Logistics.

It’s going to be an epic 7 day journey.
130km, here we come!

2026 Melbourne Half Marathon: 1:46:45 | 5:04/km

My first official half marathon. Went in with no expectations and came away really happy with the result. Feeling confident with Melbourne 70.3 now less than 4 weeks away 🚀

Massive shoutout to @reboundclub for sorting the ticket, @pillarperformance for the nutrition, @altrarunningau for the sneakers and @teamvaga_aus for the cap 🙌🏼

Onwards and upwards 💪🏼🔥
