After 12 years of coaching, one pattern keeps showing up: (comment “BUSY” for my free guide) Guys build a routine around their best week, then abandon it when a normal week happens. Work runs late. Your kid gets sick. You have dinner plans. Suddenly, you’re “starting over Monday.” Build a plan with answers for those situations: 1. Set a training minimum. Pick the sessions you can consistently protect. Have a shorter workout ready when time gets tight. 2. Make your usual meals predictable. Have a few breakfasts and lunches you can repeat. Learn their portions and protein content so every meal doesn’t require another decision. 3. Plan the weekend before it starts. Look at your dinners, drinks and family plans. Decide how you’ll handle them before you’re hungry and ordering. 4. Know what happens after the diet. Have a plan for maintaining your results before you reach your goal. You can take your health seriously and still be present for your family. Your routine should make room for both. Comment “BUSY” and I’ll send you The Busy Man’s Protocol, my free guide with 45-minute workouts, simple meals and a weekly system for busy men.

This was 10 weeks after wrapping up my dieting phase, at the tail end of my recovery phase and right before transitioning into my current growth phase. I was very happy with how I managed the recovery phase and was able to maintain a degree of leanness to the physique and position myself for an extended and productive growth phase. One of the biggest mistakes I see is people trying to rebound out of a diet and put on 10-25 lbs in the first one to two months. The likelihood that is all new muscle is virtually zero. Why do I take the position of staying relatively lean during a recovery phase? 1️⃣ You have more room to grow. If you get unnecessarily fat, eventually you need to diet again. That interrupts the gaining phase. Staying relatively lean gives you a longer runway to build muscle before needing to diet again. 2️⃣ Better nutrient partitioning. Maintaining good insulin sensitivity and controlling the size of your surplus creates a better environment for adding quality tissue rather than simply accumulating unnecessary body fat. 3️⃣ Better gym performance. Makes high effort training less taxing. Excess bodyweight can make you feel heavy, lethargic and out of breath. 4️⃣ Better sleep and recovery. Excessive fat gain can negatively affect sleep quality, which can create a ripple effect on recovery, performance, and your ability to train consistently. 5️⃣ Better health markers. Carrying excessive body fat means greater systemic inflammation and metabolic stress. Avoiding that can help with blood pressure, resting heartrate, blood glucose, lipids and overall cardiovas cular health. You need to be healthy to optimally grow. How did I accomplish this? I nailed my diet all 10 weeks post dieting phase, only had one free meal out per week, and never binged. To be clear, the goal isn’t to stay near stage lean for the sake of looking good. The goal is to find that sweet spot where you get training performance back, restore energy and recovery, improve sleep, normalize appetite signals, and support restoration of health markers. Now it’s time to grow. 📈

You are allowed to want more for yourself. More strength. More confidence. More you.⁣ ⁣ THIS is what I love about coaching women. Yes, we have physique goals. We want to build muscle, lose fat, and feel good in our clothes. But somewhere along the way, something bigger happens.⁣ ⁣ You start keeping promises to yourself. You get stronger. You stop being afraid of the weight room. You realize your body is capable of a lot more than you gave it credit for.⁣ ⁣ And that is the part I love the most. 🤍

Olympia weekend ✨⁣ ⁣ There’s something really special about being surrounded by people who just get it. The sport, the lifestyle, the work, all of it.⁣ ⁣ Getting to experience the Olympia in person was pretty freakin cool. Getting to do it with people I love made it even better.⁣ ⁣ Good people, good food, a disrespectful amount of muscle, and so much to be grateful for. 🖤

Understanding basic biomechanics allows you to adjust a movement to your goal instead of relying on arbitrary cues. Before your next set of a squatting based pattern, ask yourself: What am I actually trying to train? Then choose the setup that best supports that goal. Better training starts with understanding the purpose behind every adjustment. * Bonus: Astute observers may notice that foot placement wasn’t the only change I made. I also adjusted the back pad to keep my torso more upright for the quad-biased variation and more pitched forward for the glute-biased variation. * Disclaimer: I’m not claiming the lines of force or external moment arms I drew are perfectly accurate. They are simply meant to help illustrate the concept.

The amount of money people drop on peptides and GLP-1s without blinking… but a coach? “Too expensive.” 👀 Let’s be real — the meds can help. But they’re not the plan. They’re not teaching you how to eat, how to train, how to build the habits that actually stick once you come off. And to be clear — this isn’t a dig at everyone using them. I know people on peptides who are doing the damn work. Fueling their bodies right, training properly, either working with a coach right now or built those foundations with one in the past. That’s the difference. The meds can buy you a head start. A coach is what makes it last. You can invest in the shortcut or invest in the skill. One of them you’ll need forever. The other you’ll need once
