Join us for the opening of Touching grass in the Kit, curated by Kaiwhakamahiri Pirihi Taiwhenua Curatorial Intern Emily Lyall as part of the programme Rerekē.

The exhibition Touching grass, counters prior Rerekē exhibition I’ve Never Had an Original Experience, rejecting constant involuntary stimulation and consumption. Touching grass encourages introspection, slowing down, presence, local inspiration, peace and encounter. The exhibition embodies the change and response encouraged by the programme Rerekē.

Exhibition opening on Friday 30 October 6–8pm, all welcome.

As a digital extension of the Rerekē exhibition I’ve Never Had an Original Experience, Ziggy Humberstone responds to her work Self Portrait. Ziggy performs the infamous monologue from The Silence of the Lambs (1991), replacing herself in the style of reality TV confessionals: in the Love Island beach hut, self-surveillance becomes a reckoning of sacrificial expression.
