A peek inside Duet with Film 🎥💃

Dance Camera West is thrilled to be working with Colburn on its first craft course, Duet with Film: A Dance Film Creation Course, led by DCW co-founder Kelly Hargraves with visiting artist Jessie Lee Thorne. Over six weeks, participants are exploring how movement and filmmaking come together, from concept and choreography through shooting and editing.

And the dance-on-film momentum continues.

This January, Dance Camera West returns for its 2027 Festival at venues across Los Angeles, including our LA POPS UP program at Colburn’s Zipper Hall.

Looking further ahead, Colburn has just announced the September 2027 opening celebrations for its Frank Gehry-designed campus expansion, including a new Dance Center that will become the home of the Trudl Zipper Dance Institute.

Grateful to be creating alongside:

“The choreography took place both on a stage in the Armory’s drill hall and in other parts of the building, a camera following characters as they raced up stairs and made their way down long corridors. The Armory is an enthralling building: haunted and majestic, with history in its bones. ... the effect was arresting.” — @nytimes
