SOMEWHERE IN CHICAGO WE GATHERED…

The afternoon featured a conversation between our founder Dr. Kahil El’Zabar and Bob Faust — Internationally acclaimed Chicago-based artist and designer whose decades-long career has shaped the visual language of contemporary culture through art, publishing, activism, and design.

Hosted by Ivy Wilson, Director of the Black Artists Consortium at Northwestern University, some of OOH’s closest friends got together to image how our culture network could function as a place for honest exchange with culture at the center of conversation.

NOTE :
A town hall dialogue with an open invitation should include the people who experience art, support art, and live alongside it — but first, it must begin with the artists themselves: those who have walked different paths, challenged convention, and given so much to our collective lives and imagination.

Isn’t it time we listened to the people who’ve done the work?

Swipe through for more priceless wisdom from Master artist Bob Faust, Only In The OOH!

Missing since October 14, 2023

In an urgent and heart-wrenching plea, we bring you the story of Wayne Coleman, a man facing a dire medical condition that threatens his life. Wayne’s life is an emblem of resilience and success - a college graduate and a skilled mechanic, he’s owned his Riverdale, Illinois home for over 25 years. His commitment to family, particularly his ailing mother, is unwavering. Each day, Wayne makes a call to her, a testament to his love and devotion.
However, in a shocking turn of events, Wayne has vanished, leaving his family in anguish. His medical condition, which requires critical medication to prevent life-threatening seizures, adds a layer of urgency to this tale.
The author, a retired Postmaster and community activist, bears the weight of past tragedies. Cassandra, her daughter, was tragically lost 18 years ago to carbon monoxide poisoning. Despite having all her identification and belongings, she lay in the morgue for hours, with no outreach from the media or authorities. It was a silence that still haunts the family.
Now, this family, with a background in public service, pleads for media outlets across America to shine a spotlight on Wayne’s disappearance. His story is one of love, dedication, and familial bonds, which have been shattered by his inexplicable vanishing. With a career spanning over three decades as a school bus mechanic, Wayne has touched countless lives with his laughter and kindness.
The story serves as a powerful reminder that every missing person’s story is vital. This is a call for media outlets to recognize the urgency and importance of Wayne Coleman’s case, a father, grandfather, son, and uncle. The family is unwilling to let their loved one be forgotten and is appealing for national attention. Their plea echoes the sentiment that no life is unworthy of being known, and the media has the power to make a difference in bringing Wayne back to his family.

WHO SUPPORTED SHOP SMALL BUSINESSES YESTERDAY? (SWIPE)

Hanging out with the one and only Small Business Mentor and Advocate, Bruce Montgomery (left) also Founder & CEO, of @TechAccessTV The Entrepreneur Success Program.

Did you know the origin of Small Business Saturday?

Small Business Saturday started as a campaign launched by American Express on Nov. 27, 2010, to help small businesses gain exposure and to inspire consumers to shop within their own communities during the holiday season.

It was officially cosponsored by SBA since 2011, Small Business Saturday has become an important part of small businesses' busiest shopping season.

Since then, SBS has evolved into a Shop Small® movement that encourages consumers to support local businesses and communities year-round. Want to learn more about Small Business Saturday's history and success?
