@ideas_fest 🌈 🎉 - so much fun, SO many ideas, a tonne of validation and a huge sprinkle of inspiration ✨

Frankie - I hope you realise just what an epic space you’ve created. Zero ego, complete flattening of hierarchy, celebs and business gurus hanging out with the masses, and eager to share wisdom with those who’s ideas are still yet to be born.

Truly a joy to be a part of, thank you 🫶🏻

Great to see some fabulous industry buddies from @buywomenbuilt and Super Scalers and create new friendships and connections too 🤗

Two days at @ideas_fest and I came home with a very full camera roll, a notebook full of scribbles and some properly lovely memories.

A huge thank you to Ella Hoyos for the invite. One of my favourite parts was getting to meet fellow @techpixies in real life, including Ali Scott and Karishma. There is something so nice about finally putting a real person to the little square you have seen on Zoom so many times.

And then there was Joy Foster.

Joy is both a client of ours at KC Socials and a mentor to me, so getting to watch her speak was always going to be special. She talked about fear, creating a vision for your life and squashing those ANTs, Automatic Negative Thoughts.

At one point she brought someone from the audience on stage and helped her completely change the way she was looking at something she had been struggling with. There were cheers, hugs and definitely a few tears.

That is very much the Joy effect. She listens properly, asks the right questions and somehow helps you see your own way forward.

I also got to meet her husband, Olympian Tim Foster, which still feels slightly surreal.

I remember watching him and the team win gold for Great Britain years ago, never imagining I would one day be standing chatting to him as the husband of one of my clients!

A big thank you too to Dani Wallace, Colette Thompson, Niall MacMillan, Yinka and Nicole Bateman for the talks I managed to catch. All completely different, all bringing something worth hearing, and all part of what made the two days so good.

And while I was off hobnobbing in a field for two days, Billy Austin was holding the fort at home. My partner in believing, biggest supporter and the person behind the scenes making it possible for me to go off, learn, meet people and say yes to opportunities like this.

Ideas Fest, you were a good one. 💛

Day out at IdeaFest today and boy… what a world it turned out to be!

Getting to finally meet my coach and mentor, @techpixiejoy, IN PERSON after working with her for over 2 years was pretty special. And then meeting Tim Foster, Olympian rower and coach, was another amazing moment.

Hearing @danielpriestley and so many other inspiring people, brands and stories. So much to take in, learn from and be inspired by.

But most of all… my soul is happy because of my fellow Techpixies ...
@kcsocialsmedia
@ellahoyos
@aliscott362 and spending the day with you girls, sharing, learning and just being together made it so much more fulfilling.

One of those days that leaves your head buzzing with ideas and your heart feeling very, very full.

Most founders hit the goal and forget to feel proud of it.

Asked for one word to define her next chapter, Joy Foster said pride. She wants to reach the end of the year and actually feel proud of what she built.

That sounds small until you realize how many of us blow past every win, already staring at the next thing on fire.

The goalpost moves and the pride never gets collected.

Sometimes the problem isn't that you're doing it wrong.

Joy Foster spent years building her business before discovering she had ADHD. That realization helped her understand what was actually happening in her brain and what she needed to function better.

For Joy, that understanding changed everything.

She's paid her team 550 times and never missed once. Didn't even know what a P&L was.

Joy Foster ran TechPixies for years without understanding overheads or cash flow. She learned the financial side of the business while the money was real, the stakes were high, and people were depending on her to get it right.

That's not rare. That's most founders.

You learn while you're already in it.

The business you build ends up building you.

Joy Foster launched TechPixies as a social media trainer. Click here. Crop this. Use that color. She was good at it.

Ten years later, she's a transformational and leadership coach, helping people work through the fear and doubt underneath the business.

If you had asked her a decade ago if this is who she'd become, she'd have said, “No way.” And meant it.

That's the part nobody tells you: the founder who starts the business is almost never the one who scales it.

You can scale past £2.2 million and still not know how your own money works.

Joy Foster did. And she says it out loud.

She built TechPixies into a training company that's helped more than 16,000 women get back to work and start businesses of their own. For years, she was sharp on what she was building and lost on what kept it alive.

She didn't know what a P&L was. She ran her first business out of her personal bank account. The shift came when she stopped clinging to the work she could do in her sleep and started letting the company run without her holding it up.

Here's what stood out:

1️⃣ You can't outrun the numbers you avoid
Treat the money as somebody else's job and you're not delegating. You're gambling.

2️⃣ Stop doing the job you could do asleep
Every hour spent on what you've already mastered is an hour the business waits on you.

3️⃣ People don't buy confidence. They buy the result.
They pay for the concrete skill, career change, or business outcome that creates that confidence.

Every founder has one job they know they should've handed off a year ago and still haven't.
