Harvesting outdoors sometimes means that I run into poison ivy. Thankfully I have @tecnu_outdoor to wash away the oils that cause a rash. I was able to #harvest tomatoes from this corner of my #backyardgarden knowing that poison ivy was lurking. Washing my exposed skin with #tecnu after harvesting gave me the peace of mind that I needed. #livelifeoutdoors

Tick and poison ivy (first aid) kit from a nurse and mom of littles.

Save this to start building for kit today and to have on hand for the next time you encounter either of these.
(which I hope you don’t, we learned the hard way 🤪)

It was a hot one. Yup—felt like 7 inches from the midday sun even though I was out early.

Saw a few cool things like some wild blueberries 🫐 But mostly I was focused on not melting past the point of no return. 🫠

This was a Ladders and Chutes hike. I front loaded that elevation so I could roll home after I reached the top, but if I started this hike being 5 foot 4 I reached the top coming in at under a foot. 😆 Water and a breeze revived me. 😋

Pleasant surprise—my fitness is improving. Despite the heat and the incline with my pack on—I’m seeing an increased ability to breathe through my nose instead of pant like dog. 🐶 The bonus on top of increased cardiovascular fitness is that I swallow a lot less bugs. 🦟 I’m improving so much I may need to pack protein supplements. 😆Additionally, my pronating flat-footed silliness is also getting better. I’ve been working on this for YEARS! (Post for another time) But I am happy with how my foot strength is improving.

Made it home—soaked again but no time to plunge. But after a hike every #greengirl needs to be treated to a spa-like experience. So thanks for the body scrub Tech Nu. @tecnu_outdoor Smooth. 😉

POV: I went hiking in New York like a cute lil nature girl 🌲💕 and apparently had a full makeout sesh with poison ivy 😭

Now I’m back in Florida on Memorial Day weekend looking like a CVS haul queen buying Tecnu and calamine lotion like “this is NOT the glow-up I ordered” ☠️🤣

Thanks to @tecnu_outdoor (Tecnu) for saving my life and Calamine lotion for the cooling relief 🫶🏻 Memorial Day plans? Officially scratched by a plant 💀🌱😁

Drop your funniest itch stories or survival tips below pls 😂 Who else is out here battling nature this weekend?

Save, share, and reshare:
Your trail friends will thank you later 🌿
Cause we all have that one friend who touches every bush on trail.

Poison oak… because apparently the trails like to keep us humble 🌿

If you spend time running or hiking in Angeles National Forest or any forest, it helps to know what it looks like, where it hides, and how fast you should wash up if you brush against it. Think trail edges, shady sections, creek crossings, and that one plant you swore you didn’t touch.

Wash exposed skin ASAP, clean your clothes and gear, and grab Tecnu or even Dawn to help remove the oils before the itching begins.

If a rash shows up, over-the-counter creams can help, but if your body reacts hard: swelling, spreading rash, or feeling run down, then urgent care may be the move for stronger meds.

Stay wild, stay aware, and try not to bring poison oak home as your trail souvenir!

Have you ever had a bad poison oak reaction? Who else has learned the hard way on trail? Was this helpful?!!

Anyways stay WILD 🤟

Into the woods with Shelby! They love romping in the San Lorenzo River along the perimeter of Henry Cowells State Park. @henrycowellredwoods.sp After the swimming and playing the water, massive zoomies took them deep into the Poison Oak! So when they got home? @tecnu_outdoor showers in the yard. Then a really good night’s sleep. No poison oak today, thanks Tecnu!
