We did it! 🏆 So grateful to the 2025 Detroit Black Film Festival for honoring my short film Kofi with Best International Short Film 🙏🏿. Wish our team could’ve been there in person, but this recognition still means the world. This was the final festival Kofi played in, and to wrap up its run with a win feels so special. Huge thanks to everyone who helped bring this story to life and to all who’ve supported it along the way. Even though we made this film almost over 1 year and a half ago, it still surprises me how much it continues to resonate. Maybe this isn’t the last chapter for Kofi… who knows 👀

Canadian writer-director @mollyshears brings a blend of poetic realism and surreal absurdism to the screen once again in The Morning, a new music video for @chewbearband Known for her deeply humanist lens and nuanced depictions of misfits and dreamers, Shears crafts a liminal world where waking life and dreams blur into one. It’s a haunting portrayal of companionship, longing, and the bittersweet nature of dreams. Watch and Read our exclusive Q&A with @mollyshears via the link in our bio now 👆🏽
