@johnrodstromftl 🌳 THE TREES OF LAS OLAS. THE VOICE OF THE PEOPLE. MEET JOHN RODSTROM.

We sat down with John Rodstrom, candidate for Fort Lauderdale City Commission District 1, at the historic, members-only Tower Club, overlooking the beautiful city we all love: Fort Lauderdale.

Our conversation focused on the future of our city, the importance of listening to residents, and the growing frustration over decisions made at City Hall.

The beautiful trees along Las Olas Boulevard have become a symbol of this fight. Residents have spoken out to protect their community’s character. Ted Ansaria, a well-known River Oaks resident and community advocate, even brought in an arborist who concluded the trees were healthy. Yet residents’ concerns have collided with decisions made by the city commission.

Why aren’t residents being heard?

Rodstrom brings an impressive background as an attorney, entrepreneur, and former member of Fort Lauderdale’s Budget Advisory Board. With education in finance, law, and business administration, he brings experience to scrutinize decisions and challenge business as usual.

In our conversation, John made clear he wants a different approach—one that puts residents, neighborhoods, and quality of life first.

At Broward Blueprint, we believe our elected officials should represent the people who live here, not simply cater to developers.

That’s why, throughout this election season, we’re introducing resident-first candidates and giving voters the opportunity to hear their priorities firsthand.

Fort Lauderdale deserves thoughtful planning, accountability, protected green spaces, and leaders willing to stand up for the people they represent.

It’s time to put residents first. Not developers. THE PEOPLE.

📍 On location at the historic Tower Club, overlooking the city we all love.

This is Broward Blueprint. We ask the questions others won’t.

Fort Lauderdale’s City Commission claim the Las Olas Black Olive Trees are declining rapidly. Ted Inserra brought in an independent Arborist. This is what happened. #fortlauderdale #lasolas

🚨Ted Inserra and I are opponents of the plan to remove the iconic Las Olas median and cut down the beautiful Black Olive Trees in Ft Lauderdale.

After viewing a tree being removed due to disease we ask: WHY NOT SIMPLY REPLACE THEM IF AND WHEN THEY DIE?

We are very appreciative for all the help from everyone who pitched in to protect and save the beach basketball courts, exercise and picnic area from being taken by overzealous deveĺopers. 🐾 Animal Care in the Community 🐾
Public Information Officer Zachary Rinkins and Volunteer Coordinator Perla Navarrete recently delivered an informative presentation to the River Oaks Civic Association in Fort Lauderdale.

They shared updates on our temporary cat intake suspension, along with resources, services, and pet care education available to residents. The River Oaks community also blessed us with a kind donation to support our work—thank you! 💙

If you’d like us to speak with your neighborhood or civic group, send your invitation to animalcare@broward.org.
