A couple years ago @tedjoyner asked me to help him write music for a ballet. Working with those classical musicians really inspired me, so I kept writing after we finished. A Dark Sea is the first batch of songs I wrote. Link in bio.

As I close my chapter with the Marigny Opera Ballet, I have been looking back at the work we created together.

These images hold only a small part of it, but they carry so much people within them.

Every production was shaped by dancers, who gave the their bodies, intelligence, vulnerability, discipline, and trust, and by the designers, musicians, technicians, collaborators, choreographers, photographers, cinematographers, staff, and supporters who helped turn an idea into something living.

I’m deeply grateful to everyone who trusted me with their talents. The work exists because of you, and I will always carry it with me.

This chapter may be complete, but my commitment to dance, and to advocating for the artists and communities who sustain it continues.

The @generationals remix of Half Hearted is in the world today!

This remix sort of blew me away the first time I heard it and stopped me in my tracks. It really takes the song and puts it in a whole new context, which is what I think a great remix ultimately does, so I’m very grateful to Generationals for the care they took to make this a great one. Excited to finally have it in the world!

…But that’s not the only big news— Speak the Word to Hear the Sound is on vinyl! and pre-orders go live today!

Remember all that pre-save practice we did a few months back when we did all that pre-saving and wondered “wait, why is this important?” Well, it was leading to this moment, only this time when you pre-order, you get a physical record to have and to hold.

Pre-order on bandcamp and you’ll get yours first. Link in bio!

Hope your summer has been fun and restorative. We’re preparing for our weekend of shows at Santos Bar in the New Orleans this October. This is a reminder to grab your tickets early [link in bio]. We were thinking of sharing the set lists for each night with you...each one will be different. Or would you rather be surprised and not know? Let us know. We also appreciate all the deep cut requests that have been streaming in. Feel free to send more. We are still pretty open to outside input...Also, sidenote: we recently had our album Heza remixed for Atmos sound. If you’re into that sort of thing you should check it out. We discovered all kinds of aspects to those songs that we kind of forgot about. It was fun revisiting those tracks. Anyway, keep in touch. We’ll check in again soon.
