If I’m honest I’ve been hiding behind smoked meats and walks and memes and shit this whole lockdown. I’m finding it difficult as fuck doing this by myself and if it weren’t for my brothers and Christal checking in every other day, I’d be in a bad way. Sometimes I post stuff to my story just so I feel like I’m sharing my day with someone, but just viewing other people stories doesn’t really count as connecting. I’m guilty of it, maybe we all are? We see their story and feel like we know what’s going on with their life but it’s not really.

I ain’t looking for pity, I’m just hoping to encourage you to maybe respond to a friends story with questions, or tee up a video call, engage, properly. Let’s stop falling into the trap of feeling like we’re connected because we are watching each other’s stories and liking each other’s posts.

I’m fucken sick of this lockdown, hearing that we’ve got another 17 days in store really caught me off guard and I’m sick of how climatised we all are to it now, but I’m Grateful for my family living just up the road, reconnecting with my friends I’ve lost touch with who I’ve been able to video call WAAAAY more now than I ever have before, the daily workout video groups and the forced time to be comfortable with being alone.

As you were.

Been reading, watching and looking at a mix of things the past couple weeks so on my mind this week are the following...⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
•⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Podcast - This episode of Skimm’d from the couch was passed onto me by a friend and I LOVED IT. I literally was saying “hell ya” every second. Dara is such an inspirational leader and gave me so much to think about. The best thing I took from this episode was how to better define your work self. Which has massively had an impact on how I see myself now.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
•⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Ted Talk - I love a good Ted Talk and this new one that Adam Grant has put out as a highlight to his book is so great. It really makes you think about the things that can force us down unproductive pathways and how we can bring ourselves back to our ability to maintain curiousity and not be so married to certain outcomes.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
•⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Documentary - So I am not fully finished this one yet, but as I get through it I am amazed at how it is really getting me to think about bias, prejudice and all else in between. This documentary looks at AI and really opens up the debate on how free of bias and prejudice we really are when we rely on AI. The reliance we are starting to place on technology is great and scarey all at once and I really think this documentary highlights the later. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
•⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Article - This is a great one by the Gaurdian that really opens up the question of the validity behind Unconscious Bias training in organisations today. It also shines a light on IAT testing, which it links to in the article which I had never heard of, but actually had a go at it online and it was very very very eyeopening. The whole idea of our biases and how they play into our everyday life is so interesting to me and also one that makes me think about the importance of mindset shifts and habit change.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

What about you? What is influencing you this week, let me know 👇🏽

Have you ever had that moment when a kid says something that makes you go 🤔? 😂 Those those moments are the best. Kids say the darnest things. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I remember one day I woke up and cooked breakfast for my children. I typically sit down and eat with them. But this day.. I decide I was going to lay back and relax on the couch and eat my breakfast. Well, that didn’t last long. My children quickly ran into the room and was like..... “Why you get to eat in the living room and you say we don’t.” 😂😩. Of course, my response was! Because I am the mom and you all are more prone to spill something on my carpet. Thanks why. 🤷🏽‍♀️😂. I am sure it still didn’t make sense to them. Because in their simple innocent minds. It was simple. If we can’t do it. You shouldn’t be able to do it. Period end of discussion. 🤣. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Can you imagine yourself as a child before God? How many times have you asked him why? Maybe the answer you received didn’t make sense. May e you felt like you didn’t get a answer at all. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Well, just like our children. They may not understand the logic behind our wisdom. But they must choose the directions we give them. Later down the line as they mature in life. They will better understand why, mommy gets to do something and I don’t. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We should have the same approach when we enter our prayer room with God. We may not understand and may not have the answers. But we must trust Him. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
He is the creator of the universe. Certainly I can trust Him with my life. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

1. Decide what defines you as a person ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
There are many things that we can choose to define us:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
* What others says about us: parents, friends, family, authority figures, enemies.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
* Childhood trauma and experiences. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
* What Society says we are through media, educational materials ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
* Our sexuality, race, gender. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
* Career, Job, Title or Status⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
* Our beliefs about how we got here⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When you decide that Christ Jesus the creator of all things is the best person who tell you who you are. Your journey to discovering you becomes clearer.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
