That was a lot of fun talking all things TEDxAberdeen with Joanna Fraser & Clare Scott on their brilliant podcast ‘How are your Pigeons?’.

From favourite cafes & walks, to folklore, to tatties - their podcast covers what’s happening in the North-east and celebrates this corner of the world.

Their latest episode features spooky tales and haunted hotspots and a sneak peek behind the iconic red dot with TEDxAberdeen.

You can listen to the latest episode of HAYP on your usual podcast provider and you listen to back episodes too.

Pin back your lugs and get listening!

🚨 NEW EVENT ON SALE! 🚨

Aberdeen is a city shaped by innovation, resilience, and determination with a wealth of stories waiting to be told.

On Saturday, 24 October 2026, @tedxabz returns to the Aberdeen Arts Centre to bring those stories to life under the theme: Minds Wide Open.

In the spirit of TED’s mission to spread ideas capable of changing minds and lives, TEDxAberdeen brings together an eclectic lineup of local speakers, thinkers, and doers. This independently organised event—managed entirely by volunteers—combines live local voices with selected TED video content to spark meaningful conversations, challenge long-held assumptions, and encourage fresh ways of looking at our world.

Whether exploring the pitfalls of the online world, creative expressions of art, or personal journeys of perseverance, every talk on the TEDxAberdeen stage is carefully curated to provoke thought and inspire action.

"Minds Wide Open" is more than just a theme -it's an invitation to step outside your comfort zone, embrace new perspectives, and engage in the conversations that matter most to our community today.
Beyond the stage, TEDxAberdeen is an immersive gathering space designed to foster connection, spark conversation, and ignite change. Attendees will have the opportunity to exchange ideas with fellow curious minds throughout the day.

Ticket price include access to the full-day TEDx experience featuring more than 10 inspiring speakers, lunch, break refreshments, and a goody bag. Spaces for TEDxAberdeen are limited - book your ticket now.

How did @chloelouisewears FEEL when stepped off the @tedxabz stage?

When the talking is done and the applause fades away, what does it feel like to step off that stage? Relief? Sadness? Confusion? Chloe tells us how SHE felt.

“It was like the X-FACTOR every WEEK!”

The nicknames given to Bob Keiller and Derrick Thomson were certainly earned in the run up to the 2024 @tedxabz talks! But, they were earned in the best way possible.

There are STANDARDS that must be UPHELD!

Simply stepping on stage and talking is NOT enough. @tedxabz has to ensure the standards of TEDx talks are upheld and @chloelouisewears found out all about that in 2024.

😮Remember when I did a TEDx talk called ‘Find Your Main Character Energy’? This is the part where I geek out about language.

Watch me tell my story, including the part where I offer a more powerful use of words to help you tune into your sense of identity, via the link in bio.

A year ago today I stood on the stage of the Music Hall in front of 300 eager listeners for @tedxabz, to share a bit of my story and explain how just tweaking a few words helped me come home to myself.

For 14 minutes I was only conscious of that red dot and the words I’d so meticulously rehearsed. But I did hear actual gasps from the audience as I spoke, and I’m reliably informed tears were shed.

I’ve since gained new connections with people who’ve discovered it on YouTube and heard their own unique story resonating in mine, or had a moment of clarity about their own sense of identity.

Go watch it via the link in bio to find out what ‘Jay from Brazil’ said that limited my identity, and what a Lego brick and Hello Kitty toy have to do with it.

And then SHARE it far and wide please! Because I know there are many more people out there who would get a moment of clarity from hearing my story in this way.

What are you doing this the last year?
