POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Please read to the end ❤️

Eeeek I’m standing on that red for. My heart was definitely racing!

4 weeks until my TEDx talk, and yesterday we had a rehearsal. ❤️

I was one of the first to go, and afterwards I felt a little deflated. The talk is written, but finding the headspace to learn it in the last few weeks with everything else going on has been tricky. I’ve been practising but only the last few days, and despite making good progress, the words just weren’t coming as I’d hoped.

I always like to give 100%.
I’m a speaker, communicator and a broadcaster.
Why is this so much harder?
Usually, my “the show must go on” attitude and professionalism carry me through. But it was a little trickier.

So a couple of weeks ago, I nearly pulled out. I just couldn’t see how I could continue on this challenge alongside everything else, as I couldn’t give it the justice and time it deserved.

But yesterday reminded me why I want to do this.

As the afternoon went on, I got swept up in the stories, experiences and richness of everyone else’s talks. And gradually, feeling deflated gave way to feeling incredibly uplifted and inspired. That little voice came back: “You’ve got this.”

Through TEDx, I’ve found a new community and new friends. People who hold you when things feel difficult, encourage you and help you rise. Being part of that means so much to me. It’s a huge part of why I’m doing this.

Yes, I’ve had a lot on.
But I’m here.
The talk is good (I think 🤣).
Now I need to polish it, memorise it and keep practising. And I’ll absolutely give it my best.

Along the way, I need to breathe, be kinder to myself and appreciate this experience. This is a journey in itself

And Comparison is the thief of joy, but yesterday reminded me that I can admire everyone else’s brilliance and still believe in what I have to share.

“It’ll be all right on the night,” as I keep telling myself. And I could have cried when my husband championed me when I got home late and tired - and shared with him how I was feeling for the first time in a while.

With practice, a little grace and some wonderful people beside me. ❤️
