🎓𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭🎓

Name: Tee *Archimedes* Chulikavit

Crossed: Fall 2019

Major and Degree: Health Sciences with a Biological Concentration, Minor in Entrepreneurship, Nutrition, and Biomedical Physics

What have you gained and learned in your time in PDPsi?: I came to this organization looking for a family that would help support my academics, personal affairs, and aspirations and I got what I was looking for ten-fold. It is because of this organizations I learned to never see an achievement as a result, but as a stepping stone for the next achievement. I also learned that ambition should be pure, so you shouldn’t climb mountains so the world can see you, but rather so you can see the world.

Future Plans: As for my future plans, I am taking a year to expand my horizons before nursing school next fall, and in the meantime, working as a data scientist and PCT.

Celebrating #AAPI Heritage Month by highlighting the different cultures that make up our communities and the people in them!

For more than 30 years, visitors flocked to Wat Tampa, a Buddhist Thai temple, for the culture and the food during its Sunday markets. 🍜

The temple aimed to celebrate Thai heritage, but over the years it’s also evolved into a place for anyone, regardless of background, to learn more about its culture.

The temple was established in 1981 as a cultural center. It also serves as a school to teach the Thai language, meditation, and Buddhism. ✨

Nothing appears to reach people more than its food. Food can be a great introduction to learning about another culture.

So, @migoctav and I met @tee.chu at the temple for a tour and to try the food that continues to bring people back.

Check out the story! 🇹🇭 #wattampa #thai #thaifood #aapiheritagemonth

✨INTRODUCING OUR ASIA SENIOR ADVISOR ✨

Name: Tee Chulikavittaweewat ☺️
Position: Senior Advisor 🫣
Year: Senior 🫡
Major: Biomedical Physics 🥱

Why ASiA?
->> I've been attending events within the USF Asian community since before I was in college, and it ended up being something I wouldn't ever NOT be a part of. When it came down to picking which avenue I wanted to go, I first thought of joining or creating a Thai student association, because my own culture is what I wanted to represent. Due to the fact there was no robust Thai demographic at USF, much less the Asian community at USF, I decided on ASiA because it would give me the opportunity to represent Thai culture in a more prevalent medium. I can only hope that I've done enough for a Thai student organization to come into fruition and prosper in this community.

What item of clothing would you be and why?
->> Rezz's Glasses ifykyk

On Sunday, July 24th, Tee *Archimedes* Chulikavit volunteered at the Wat Mongkolratanaram for the ceremony of King Maha Vajiralongkorn of Thailand's 70th birthday. He was involved in helping serve food to visitors, translating Buddhist chants, and speaking on the history and significance of this Thai national holiday. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
This holiday is typically celebrated on the birthday of the King, however, it was celebrated early at Wat Mongkolratanaram by 4 days, simply due to the temple grounds being open only on Sunday. Previously, this holiday was celebrated on December 6th for the late King of Thailand, Bhumibol Adulyadej, but that day has now been made a national holiday as the holiday had been moved for the birthday of the new King. The national holiday of King Bhumibol is to recognize the most prolific time in Thailand in credit to his emphasis on agriculture, education, and democracy. With all of his achievements during his reign, the longest reign in Thai history, he was given many names in Thailand, such as the "King of Kings", "The Development King", and "The Forever Father of Thailand." King Maha Vajiralongkorn began his reign at the age of 64, making him the oldest Monarch to be crowned King of Thailand, after the passing of his father, and ascended to the throne two months later as a mark of respect and mourning.
