It was our honour to welcome Fala Chen and the cast and crew of Bloodline to an intimate Fête Chinoise luncheon at Aera on Monday, celebrating her short film Bloodline at the Toronto International Film Festival 2026 🎬

Bloodline explores deeply personal themes of heritage, family legacy, and cultural identity, making Fala’s choice to anchor her directorial debut at TIFF in this story both courageous and profoundly meaningful. As a platform dedicated to cultural expression, we are proud to champion Asian female directors and creative trailblazers like Fala whose momentum, evolution and breakthroughs give inspiration and power to our generation.

The afternoon brought together the Bloodline crew, creative collaborators, and longtime supporters from our Fête Chinoise family for intimate connection paired with an exquisitely curated menu by Oliver & Bonacini. 🥂

This moment was our small and mighty tribute to the collective effort behind independent cinema—visionary stories from script to screen. Take a look inside this special gathering with Fala and our community!

Alliance of Women Directors is thrilled to reveal the incredible mentors guiding the 2026 Rising Director Fellowship cohort.

This year’s directing mentors include Zach Cregger, Issa López, Jay Duplass, Andrew Ahn, Valerie Faris, and Josephine Decker. And for the first time in the fellowship’s history, fellows will also be paired with producing mentors: Barbara Muschietti, Emily V.
