Most Jews will name Shabbat and Yom Kippur. We won’t stop until tefillin is on that list too.

That’s why The Tefillin Project exists: to get a pair into the hands of every Jew who’s never owned one.

Follow along. And tag a Jew who’s never wrapped. 👇

Every morning, a Jewish man binds himself to the Infinite.

This is how I put on Tefillin according to the Sephardic custom.

One on the arm — aligning the heart.
One on the head — crowning the mind.

Mind and heart connected to Hashem.

You want to connect to the Wi-Fi of the universe?
This is how we’ve been plugging in for thousands of years.

It’s not just ritual.
It’s alignment.

Have questions about tefillin or how to start? Message me.

In Rabbi Yisroel Majeski’s story one daughters ripped shirt becomes a class-wide act of solidarity: each friend “binds” tape to her clothing so she won’t feel alone & that move not only transforms the politics of #tefillin but also help situate Jen Taylor Friedman’s Tefillin #barbie in #jewish #feminst thought & #halakhah under the precedent of permissibility: Michal bat Shaul wore tefillin & “the sages did not protest”

What the girls did wasn’t only solidarity; it was a hidden lesson of profound modesty repair. A rip is a shattering of a vessel; tape is its tikkun. The Rema’s caution to protest women wearing tefillin on the grounds of guf naki unbinds in a corrective: she performs not exposure but enclosure — the leather encircles the limb as an additional garment of modesty — turning the arm into a living vessel of Shekhinah, the marʾot ha-tzovʾot, the mirrors of the ministering women, Kimchit of Yoma & Sol Hachuel

Woman & tefillin comprise a spiritual architecture: the feminine principle is already embedded in the ritual object. The hand tefillin represents the feminine element: single box cathected womb — leather straps cathected “umbilical cord.” Her body becomes not a secondary participant but a locus of that dynamic

Man & tefillin perform a symbolic union with the feminine vessel. He is not merely fulfilling a command; he is re-enacting the cosmic marriage of light & vessel, seed & womb, intellect & embodiment. The Shel Rosh radiates masculine intellect while the Shel Yad bound over the heart receives that light & returns it upward (Ohr Hozer). His body stands in the masculine role toward the feminine structure of the tefillin themselves. Man & teffilin an act of disciplined intimacy with the feminine form—not sexual as such but covenantal. He binds the divine feminine to his own flesh in an ordered halakhic embrace

This extends to grammatology: tefillin is plural (dual pair of head & arm boxes) but masculine plural in Hebrew: tefillin chadashim (תפילין חדשים) uses a masculine adjective yet referred to as a pair (bayit shel yad, bayit shel rosh — “house of the arm/head”) the individual boxes are feminine nouns (bayit is feminine) #mattel #jew #barbz
