It's been almost 20 years since I lost this guy...I grew up skating with Hank in iowa which led to pilgrimages to meet half way in Colorado when the parks started going off.
It's our first rainy day in california which means i almost always listen to if youre feeling sinister on that honorary moment yearly...my good friend Blair once said "its like a warm cardigan in the winter"
Our first meet up was 3 days after 9/11, i was the first plane to leave SD that Friday and the airport/flight was SILENT. Hank clearly judging by his tattooed skin was all about that life and everything that went with it... choppers, overall tough guy attitude, and shitty, shitty music. So when we'd link up once a year he'd have Mozzer and the smiths force fed for days on end.
The second "Bin Laden Bash" as we called them he got thrown a real curve ball...we just annihilated the new FT Collins park (which was insane for the time...the red coping bowl, wow)...when we started the drive back I put on the If you're feeling sinister and said "got something special for you Hank for the drive back"
As I giggled internally watching him from the rear view mirror I could tell pure confusion was oozing from every cell of his existence...haaaaaaaaaa I can still picture the bewildered 1,000 mile stare into the sprawling prairie...he broke maybe 2 minutes into Track and Field and asked "did he just say he joined the track team to wear TERRY UNDERWEAR?!?"
Indeed he did sir...miss you buddy.

And then it’s all over….. all the stressful long nights…. all the “i played so bad” talks…. all the food after meets/games… it’s all done. Thank you to everyone that has supported me throughout high school. losing my grandma freshman year really put a toll on me. so thank you to everyone who helped me get through that. I will miss everyone so much! #5thplace #endofanera #yearbookclosed
