🚌 Big things are coming this September. 🏫

🧒🏽FLVX Youth is launching with Jiu-Jitsu and Karate for kids of all experience levels.🥋

📅 Founders’ rates and pre-registration open August 1. Check the website www.flvx.ca

We’re also proud to introduce the Head Coach of our Youth Karate Program—AJ Husain

AJ Husain (Abbas Husain) has been training in Shotokan Karate since 2003, bringing over two decades of experience to his practice. A Surrey native who has found a home in Nanaimo, he holds a 4th-degree black belt and is an instructor trainee with the International Shotokan Karate Federation (ISKF). AJ is a 6-time National Kata Champion and a 2-time National Men's Best competitor under the ISKF, and has represented his discipline internationally in traditional karate tournaments across South Africa, Panama, and Mexico.

In addition to his foundation in Shotokan, AJ has cross-trained in Judo, Jiu Jitsu, and fencing, giving him a well-rounded perspective on movement, timing, and combat strategy. He is deeply passionate about martial arts history and philosophy, drawing inspiration from figures like Bruce Lee and Lyoto Machida.

At FLVX, AJ leads the Karate program with a focus on technical precision, discipline, and personal growth. He is committed to helping students develop both physically and mentally, whether they are beginners or experienced martial artists.

Outside of the dojo, AJ maintains an active lifestyle through strength training and hiking, and values time spent with family. Professionally, he is a full-time chiropractor with a Master's degree in Sports Medicine, serving the Nanaimo and Parksville communities. His clinical background enhances his approach to coaching, with an emphasis on injury prevention, longevity, and performance.
