The Gumball 3000 Foundation joined forces with @kingstrust, @metropolisstudios and @teks_sinatra to provide a songwriting workshop for a group of talented young people at the famous Metropolis Studios in West London.

We supported young people from The King’s Trust Enterprise programme to build their confidence, get work ready, and raise future aspirations through exploring their creativity. The young people from The Kings Trust showcased their skills in the same studio as some of the world’s most famous and successful musicians including Amy Winehouse, Adele, Kendrick Lamar and Travis Scott.

A special thank you to Metropolis Studios and Teks for their support and a huge congratulations to the young people involved - you were all amazing!

Review of ‘This Guy’
by @chillsmyth 🎤
produced by @thelostpelicanband 🎹 🎶

Reportedly been in the works for nearly a decade and the attention to detail really shines through.
The funny skits and clever use of background noise and live instruments really give it a live studio vibe like it was just made on the fly. The band really comes to life…

Lyrically Chills Myth is so on point ! A brilliant example of Yorkshire talent. The album is very funny throughout but manages to not come off as a joke album. The jokes are perfectly timed and well placed amongst themes of work, play, love, life, food, corrupt govs, cov did and of course hiphop because the best hiphop is about hiphop.
Chills says the inspirations for this project are mostly :

Mac Miller - Watching movies with the sound off

Action Bronson - Dr Lecter, Lamb over rice

And the work of EXP

And you can definitely hear that come through. All these Artist are very serious rappers but still manage to keep it fun and bring the jokes.

Personally I would put this above Action Bronson’s stuff, Tho I’m biased as not a big fan, I think the beats are definitely better and I prefer Chills rap style he’s more coherent, funnier and more relatable.

I also make a comparison to the work of Dj Format with Abdominal, especially felt this in the track ‘Deskridden’ serious with art but having fun with it. And the beats remind me of that of format without the scratching.

The only thing I think would take this album up to the level of Mac and Exp is that touch more introspection
That said what do I know a deeper vibe might have been out of place on this album can’t forget this is Chills debut Rap Album he doesn’t wana give it all away straight away.
It does have a bit of everything both lyrically and musically and they’re well matched throughout.

-Deskridden- a funky jam anthem to open

-Know Better- a chilled vibe packed with punchlines and satire.

-Lyrics In My Head- very chill and jazzy vibe about having a shit job while being a dope Mc featuring Doberman

-Milk And Fries- more funk and more dope feats about having a good time featuring TEKS and Obi Joe

2022 | “If not for Friends”
.
2 years ago I cut my parents crib off the back of suttn so trivial (I’ve come to accept that I did the most). I headed to Norwich cos that’s where I went uni and it was the only place I really knew.

Really and truly I had no plan, but I told myself I can’t go back home until I have something to show for myself.

The whole drive up there I was just praying to God that I wasn’t doing something stupid because I had no clue what I was doing (I still don’t, lol)

When I finally touched NR I belled DJ (@atoconstu) and let him know the sitch.

He said the crib [40 Friends Road] was unlocked at the back and I could crash there while I patterned things, these times everyone was home for Christmas.

I ended up staying there for 2 months. And in that time the mandem didn’t ask me for a single penny.

My siblings brought clothes from the house for me. I really left the parents gaff with a rucksack and my laptop on a quick ting. And me and the parents weren’t really on speaking terms at the time.

I had Rex (my car) so I’d do Deliveroo and Uber Eats shifts during the day and buy and sell iPhones on eBay and Gumtree. And eventually all that money went towards my room that I’m in now.

When I say all, I mean all cos the estate agent needed 4 months rent upfront (£480/month) because I didn’t have a “stable” job.

As of 3rd of March it’s been 2 years since I moved into the spot I’m in now. And truth be told as much as I love to think I’ve done it all myself. The people in this videos you see (amongst others) really made what should have been the worst time of my life the best.
.
From Ato opening the doors to me the way he did when there was no need to
To mine and @dr0ssy’s endless conversations about life and music
Waking up to @ceeshoo’s tea and a zoot
@lvojp reminding me to hustle
@nicho_sim teaching me survival and humility
@mayowaosonowo at my right hand once I finally touched London (shouts Kilo tooo)
Moni, a guardian angel of mine
And My siblings who I’d risk my life for without question.
If not for the people in my life…yeah it’d be peak.
.
To my parents I love you guys and trust me it was all for a reason🖤
