We interviewed Boris Collet of @telloc_lifescapes for our latest in the New Design Talent Series. He uses innovative tools–from centuries-old irrigation ollas to rammed earth–for landscape design and beyond. Link in bio.

Kill your lawn, plant a prairie.

When my delightful clients said, “we want grasses that blow in the wind, we want textures, and wildflowers. We want it to feel wild like the prairie remnants along the bayous….”
I said “YES YES YES”

This is the pocket prairie we designed at the XO house by #LoJoArchitects in Houston, Texas just one year into establishment. Planted using a mix of container grown nursery plants, live roots, and seed mixes.

It will continue to evolve as some of the erosion control starter plants get shaded out by the big baddie grasses and maximillian sunflowers.

Thank you @logan.jason for being all about the native plants and for being so dang talented!

Thank you @telloc_lifescapes for trying new things and for your commitment to the design vision.

And thank you to @leonidfurmanskyphotographer for capturing the moody light and unruly textures so beautifully.

More images coming soon.
