Rent is my family. Rent is my roots. Five weeks after I was born, my mother took me to Broadway with her at the Nederlander and then on the road with the Broadway Farewell Tour. My first example of humanity, my first impressions of life were rent. I lived with them, I loved them. I have been told that the human brain begins to form memories at the age of five to six. For me this is not true. I remember rent. I remember looking at my mother’s Mimi boots and her bright blue pants. I remember looking at her up on that bar she stood upon yesterday at the museum of broadway. I remember calling Shaun ‘Chocolate Raspberry’. I remember being passed around the air ports to different cast members to entertain me so I would be calm on the plane. I remember the complete feeling of utter bohemia. That is a feeling I have always desired to hold in every community I have been apart of since. I had a luxury most do not. I grew up embedded in the true meaning of inclusivity. I learned more about race, sexuality, and accepting your fellow humans for who they are on this tour than I have anywhere else in my life. I think more should grow up in this environment, but for now I am proud to be one of the few. Rent has made me the person I am. I try every day to uphold the standard this show set for me. Now, I am not a little child running around backstage. I am nineteen. I am applying to art school. I am equally excited and afraid for tomorrow and I have certainly seen that nothing is certain. I relate more to Rent now than ever before. To all the rent family I reunited with yesterday, I adore you. I will always adore you. You have always been my family and you always will be. To all my rent family I have yet to reunite with, I hold so much deep love in my heart for you and I eagerly await our reunion. Ideally, it won’t take five hundred twenty five thousand six hundred minutes. I know there are many more pictures from last night, but this is all I have in my phone. Thank you all for shaping me into the woman I am now. Thank you for raising me in La Vie Bohème. Thank you Jonathan Larson. Thank you Rent. #rent #rentmusical #rentthemusical #rentbroadway

Since Death Note, I have not put my pencils down, I’m so grateful to the show and cast. These are all the portraits I have done recently, and all but one has been gifted at the stage door - I am so thankful to the kind and wonderful human beings I’ve met on this journey who have received their drawings with love and offered words of kindness and encouragement to me. You all inspire me so much and hope I can continue to keep drawing and giving away portraits at the stage door 🖤 Booked shows 🎭 Martin Guerre - 24/10/26 (again because I loved it) Into the woods - 10/12/26 Rent - 26/03/27 Death note - 27/03/27 (a treat for my 40th - @ivanmenchell and @frank.wildhorn a cast album would be a super lovely 40th birthday present, just saying! 🤣🫶🏻) Hoping to also book @wildaboutyoumusical as I’m a huge fan of Danielle Steers (I have previously drawn her portrait too!) What shows do you have planned? Any recommendations? #theatre #theatreart #theatrenerd #theatrelove #musicaltheater

Sometimes living so far from West End or Broadway is hard 😔😔 But even though I wasn’t able to watch the first run of Death Note the Musical— I drew some of my favorite shots I saw from other people’s videos!!! Ryuk, in the trailers and in the advertisements for the show, I have got to say, is my favorite no matter what!!! I thought I would’ve kept my favorite character but my bias immediately changed when I saw @tellyleung and heard other people’s reactions to his performance. I literally promised to my parents to buy Ryuk merch if we ever come across it :)) There was also the TikToks I saw from @colin_ryan who was super good at the mannerisms and made me believe that L possessed him whenever he was on camera And the last drawing, though the image I saw was blurry is from a scene between Light and L in Act Two, I think. And @xander._ did incredible as light from all of the videos I heard in Death Note the Musical’s account. I don’t typically tag people, but I’ll make an exception because you guys need to check out their videos or pictures— the entire cast made me feel like the manga came to life. (And made me pray that some day I can watch this show, but let’s not talk about that) Anyway, there it is— the art is a little iffy, but I got to keep drawing :)) !! #deathnote #deathnotethemusical #fanart
