POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

A Great Day in Publishing was about more than books. It was about the conversations, connections, and community that make storytelling possible.

Last week on Martha’s Vineyard, we gathered writers, readers, authors, and publishing professionals for a full day of conversations about creativity, identity, friendship, leadership, purpose, and the stories that shape how we see ourselves and one another.

Across the day, we made space to listen, learn, celebrate new work, share ideas, and connect beyond the page. From the stage to the signing tables, the energy in the room was a reminder of what can happen when we come together around stories that matter.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, shared their perspective, supported our authors, and helped make the day what it was.

We’re grateful for the community that met us on the Vineyard, and we’re already looking forward to next year.

A great day in publishing, indeed! We laughed, we cried, we prayed, and most importantly, we learned from one another.

I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to lend my gifts and talents to conversations that uplift marginalized voices and create greater space for their stories in the literary world. Representation matters. Access matters. And making room for voices that have too often been overlooked matters.

What a beautiful reminder of the power of storytelling, community, and being intentional about who gets heard.

Thank you @storehousevoices for the opportunity to serve in this capacity. And to the GOAT @tamirachapman I am honored to be a friend of the good 🙌🏾

Martha’s Vineyard,
I wasn’t planning on seeing you this year.
But you had other plans for me.
An invite delivered over text after I finished a Pilates class led to a summer house experience with best friends and new best friends.
Beautiful days, and long nights filled with both deep and humorous conversations.
Beautiful nights, and long days catching the sunsets, warm hugs, and good vibes.

On this trip, I was reminded of a quote -
Art is how you decorate space. Music is how you decorate time. - Basquiat
I’ll add, Martha’s Vineyard is how you decorate dreams.

Meeting @templedsmith for the first time in NYC at the Women and Words author event. Hearing her thoughts on the history of Bennett College and the inspiration behind her novel was such a joy. As an A&T alum, it’s always great to show love to another HBCU, especially one right in Greensboro, NC. Look forward to reading your novel. And sending a mighty Congratulations to you! #storehousevoices #penguinrandomhouse #authors

Award-winning Ph.D. and MBA, and leading voice on educational equity and the sociology of well-being, Temple Day Smith’s All Our Tomorrows—a powerful novelization drawing attention to the extraordinary story of Bennett College’s founders-formerly enslaved persons who bet everything on a dream they wouldn’t live to see. It’s a sharp, poignant reminder that the audacity to invest in a cause bigger than ourselves can echo far beyond a time, to Tamira Chapman at Storehouse Voices (World, All). #storehousevoices
