There aren’t many moments in life that truly feel full circle. This was one of them. ❤️

Last week, I attended the premiere of Setting the Tempo, a four-part ESPN Original Series chronicling the creation and launch of Canada’s first WNBA franchise.

I had the privilege of lending my voice to this story and sharing the Canadian media perspective on what it meant for the WNBA to finally arrive in Toronto. 🙌🏽🏀

Having dedicated so much of my life to women’s basketball as a player, a producer/host of SWISH: Inside the WNBA for four seasons on NBA TV Canada and as a broadcaster, watching this story unfold on screen felt like a tangible piece of that mission coming to life. I have always wanted to help this beautiful game receive the attention, investment and space it deserves in Canada!

That mission began with my why: my aunt, Carol Hamilton-Goodale.

Carol was a pioneer and the first Canadian woman selected in the WNBA, with her opportunity coming through the Houston Comets. She is also the reason I stepped into basketball in the first place.

She passed away more than 20 years ago, but sitting at the premiere, I couldn’t help but feel like she was there with me. I kept thinking about what it would mean for her to see the WNBA finally come to Canada and to know that her niece played a small part in helping tell the story of how it happened.

I hope I made you proud, Auntie.🤍

Thank you to director Kat James (@katjaymefilms), the entire production team and the Toronto Tempo (@torontotempo) organization for trusting me to help give voice to such an important chapter in Canadian basketball history.

Setting the Tempo aired Sunday on ESPN and TSN and is now available to watch on Disney+. Check it out!! 👀🔥
