Engaged! 💍

Since @tenacious_g posted all the fancy photos I get to do our highlight reel!!!

We met on OkCupid. 96 % match 🥰. Greg messaged me and offered to take me around San Diego when I was in my second year of graduate school. I was still fresh out of Rochester and barely knew anyone. At first, I was hesitant to meet someone from online and Greg was very patient with me. He exchanged emails for weeks and persisted with asking me out to dinner until I eventually said yes. He also sent me pictures to verify his authenticity and some of the first photos he sent me were of him and his family in the very Japanese garden where we eventually took our engagement photos.

Hey Greg! I love you. Thank you loving my morning “butt trumpet” and for being my heated and weighted blanket every night. 9 years of terrific adventures with you cannot be summed up in a single post. I think of you every time I hear the song “Ladyfingers” and I wish we were slow dancing in our kitchen right now. Last night we finally got around to watching Wuthering Heights and your deconstruction of the textual romance made my heart flutter. You’re so fun to debate and I’m always surprised about what’s in your noggin! I’m so lucky I get to witness the world with you and all its wonders. Here’s to more cuddles, cooking, traveling, surviving graduate school, adopting Pickles, and seeing you every day I come home. 🏠 You are home. 🏡 So, glad that’s solved! Now we only have to tackle the rest of life’s mysteries.

Oh! Last, Greg sends me photos of him posing with flowers when he’s at work. The last images are just a taste of the beauty I get to have on my phone. 💕

I am an internationally published author now. 🎉🥹🙌🏾🥳 Here are some updates just skimming the surface of the past year for me—but it’s a start! First, I am so happy, honored and humbled to share my ongoing friendship with Melinda Gebbie. Gebbie (born 1947 in San Francisco) is a legendary feminist and American artist best known for her foundational presence in the underground comix movement. I have been a devoted fan since my undergraduate years when I stumbled upon her docuseries on YouTube Bad Girl, Sad Girl, Mad Girl Art of Melinda Gebbie. Fast forward I buy a copy of Fresca ZiZis on eBay as a graduation present to myself in 2023 and email her website —-and she emails me back! We exchange multiple letters, which builds to texts, to phone calls—and in fact we had a lovely two hour call this morning. Melinda invited me to write an introduction to her life’s work Melinda Gebbie’s Greatest Fits which will be released publicly very soon through Knockabout Press in the UK. Most people know Melinda for her collaborations with her husband Alan Moore and I can’t thank Melinda and Alan enough for being such wonderful friends and people. Greg and I celebrated receiving our copy of the book at @lindenlosangeles. Next, my short fiction “What You Pass For” was translated into Russian by the magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction and my webcomic Doomed 4 Good was exhibited at @taggallery . Last thank you to my wider community of friends and family. I’m not including everyone in this post but thank you @blackisblessing for celebrating my birthday with me this year and @permakink for continuing to hold me down. Love to everyone! I’ll make another post soon honoring more adventures I’ve been having and many more to come! 😘🥰🥹🫶🏾💛🙌🏾

Yesterday was a very special day! I took a quick trip up to the bay because my lil’ bro graduated law school from UC Hastings Law. 🎓
.
@tenacious_g left SD 3 years ago to pursue this exciting adventure, and now he has graduated with a Juris Doctor and Social Justice Concentration. AND, he was a member of the Pro Bono Society with 45 pro bono hours. 👏🏼 My guy put in WORK, and I’m so proud of him. 🥲
.
Greggo! Thank you for letting us celebrate with you! 🥳

Spent a lot of time at this stadium. Almost every SDSU football game during my 5 years. Great times and even better memories. Excited to see what the new campus and stadium will look like!!
