We are thrilled to announce Tenee' Hart as Jacksonville University's 2026 Juror!

Tenee' will have the opportunity to jury in JU student artwork for our Annual Student Juried Exhibition, set to open Thursday October 15th.

See more about Tenee' below and mark your calendars for the Opening Reception, October 15th 5-7PM. There will be tons of food and art prizes!

Tenee’ Hart is an 'unconventional' fiber artist whose materially charged
practice examines feminism through the lens of beauty, anatomy, and the
inequality of women. Wrapped fibers, gushing forms, and the manipulation of
the ‘everyday’ are crucial components within Hart’s works. Working at the
intersection of fiber, sculpture, and installation,

Hart’s abstract forms remain
committed to the lineage of craft - rooted in care, intention, and memory.

Hart hails from Virginia, where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the
University of Mary Washington in 2011. Later, Hart earned her Masters of Fine
Arts degree from Florida State University, where she has been teaching, at the
college level, since the completion of her degree in 2015. Beyond her role as an
educator, Hart is the sole Graduate Advisor + Coordinator for the Department of
Art at Florida State University.

Hart has cultivated an expansive career as an artist, educator, mentor, and
advocate. Across these interconnected roles, Hart remains committed to
expanding the possibilities of contemporary craft, championing emerging artists,
and challenging what - and whose labor - we are taught to value.

@teneehart’s June exhibition has completely transformed our space. In skin deep, Hart navigates the thin membrane between vulnerability and performance. Turning to materials closest to these closed-door rituals, the quiet witnesses of perfection and erasure - acts that shape how we are seen and how we learn to see ourselves.

Working with materials that are soft, familiar, discarded - often carrying the weight of memory - Hart recalls the women that came before her: their labor, their struggle, and their resilience. Every thread is a connection: every gesture is an act of release. Hart wraps, knots, and binds not to contain, but to reveal.

skin deep will be on view at COOP through Saturday, June 20. Watch this short video to learn more about Hart’s work.

Humbled to share that I was selected as the winner of the PATHWAYS 2026 Carlos Malamud Prize. Thank you again to Rollins Museum of Art and UCF Art Gallery for this opportunity. All of the finalists were very deserving and I am happy to be part of this initiative. I met some wonderful people these past few days and I look forward to my FIRST Museum Solo at Rollins Museum of Art next year and to working with Dr. Gisela Carbonell and all of the Rollins crew✨

Muchas gracias, thank you ✨✨
