Mamma's Day❤️.

This past weekend I spent some dedicated uninterrupted time with family celebrating life and being with mamma. Yes, I believe my mom is special. Yes, she is my champion and will cut you down without hesistation if you talk about her family, especially me or Dad. Also Mom tickles me. She is a diabetic but eats a donut a day because she says the doctor told her not to deprieve herself (the doc did not say that). She is allergic to whispering. She will tap you with her cane without warning and in a former life she was a tennis star because she is obsessed about tennis.

Her mind is razor sharp. Her appetite despite her size is incredible but what I marvel about my mother is how unbothered she is. Mamma knows people come and go, life ebbs and flows, materialism is empty, and she is always grateful. She sees the little things.Mamma is my prayer warrior and a huge part of everything I have is because she has loved me unconditionally my entire life even in spite of major messups...

Mamma is not focused on the stuff; she is focused on soulful things: belly laughs, daily talks with my husband, serving, devotional, taking Logan to school, girl brunches, time with family and one of her favorite past times texting us at a very high volume.

Mamma has lived. Mamma lives and if you ask her she looks incredible because according to her she's been gorgeous her whole life🤣. Scroll through and you will see mom has always been a natural beauty.

So today I celebrate my mother's life, her born day and her legacy of strength. Love you mamma. I am so grateful to be your daughter.

Happy Birthday!
P.S. If you know mamma, give her a shout in the comments bc my cousins are surprising her today. Thank you Lee and Bit.

I told Jeremy that all he had to give me for my birthday is his voter sticker. We went over the ballot to make sure he understood the issues on the ballot (gun violence, abortion rights, Medicaid). I then did a shameless plug for Rockdale County Board of Education Post 5 candidate, Dr. Tene Davis. All I can do is share what amazing person she is and her passion for education, the rest is up to him. I think she's got a vote.

Dignity and Humanity were the prevailing takeaway themes of our facilities mini tour with @annieecaseyfdn. We were excited to see the thoughtful and innovative practices being implemented for justice engaged youth at the facilities in @calcasieugov and @Houstan County, Tx. Both facilities serve as evidence of the benefit and effectiveness of interagency collaboration for the academic, post-secondary and life success of justice involved youth. Many of the practices researched and utilized to develop @favortransitionacademy were adopted from high performing juvenile facilities and educational programs across the nation. Seeing these two stand out facilities in action deepens our commitment to ensuring justice involved youth in Georgia have the same access, opportunities, and pathways to success. #gotfta #restoration #transition #education

What an amazing weekend I’ve had. I celebrated my 47th birthday with some very special people and we had a GOOD GOOD time! Thanks to all my vendors: @caloscocb for the delicious cupcakes and cookies, @iamdjtruzatl for the awesome music, @iammiss_mixalot for creating my signature drink-red dragonfruit margaritas and serving up drinks to everyone, @buddyloveskitchen for the mouth watering spread of chicken wings, nachos, tacos, pork, chicken, ribs, pasta salad and more, @photoglam360 for all of the glamorous and funny props and spectacular photo/video fun with the 90’s flair and pink carpet just for me. And thank you to everyone who showed up and showed out for one of the best nights of music, food and fun. I appreciate all of the time chosen to spend with me. I love a good themed party.
