the socialite! me for @trutuyou — The Girl To Watch ⌨️ this was my official headshot for Miss Texas USA, and I’m still obsessed. Whenever Daija and I met for tea to discuss this shoot, I told her I really wanted to go for a different kind of photo style. film to me signals archival work, like icon behavior that’s being documented in real time, and Daija had the concept of this All-American Black Girl story with these really cool 70’s/80’s references. we could have went overly polished and high def on digital like an influencer would but I don’t think that was the visual story here that we wanted to communicate. the cool thing about this headshot was that it would be the first impression the panel of judges have of me. film headshots definitely aren’t the standard.
