Play School is about to celebrate 60 years of lighting up Australian screens 🎠🌈 and tonight, Australian Story airs a special episode celebrating the beloved children’s program! Since 1966, this television institution has shaped generations of Australian childhoods, and we’re so proud of the Morrissey talent who’ve been a part of its story.

Morrissey’s own Andrew McFarlane, Jay Laga’aia, Teo Gebert, Georgie Parker, Abi Tucker, Nicholas Brown, and Kate Ritchie have all called the iconic Playhouse home over the years, bringing the magic of the Rocking Chair, Humpty, Jemima, and Big Ted to life for so many young Australians.

Here’s to 60 years of imagination, and many more to come! 🥳✨ Watch the Australian Story ‘Childs’s Play’ tonight at 8pm (AEST) on ABCTV and ABC iview.

Saree not sorry to be posting about a golden shimmery night back in Feb! ✨

But it’s never too late to celebrate Play School winning its first AACTA award for “Best Children’s Program- All Together”!! 🌟

This year is Play School’s 60th year on our screens ,so winning an @aacta award is the best B’day present!

Walking on stage to receive the award with colleagues @hunterpage , @michelle.lim.davidson , @luke___carroll and our best dressed producer @brysonjhall you could really feel the room celebrating with us. There were fist pumps and tears of joy and there was a sense of shared childhood memories coming together in that moment. Gosh it was beautiful- the collective affection and genuine warmth for Australia’s longest running children’s program was palpable.

Bryson did us proud with his thoughtfully articulated speech, “Play School has maintained its simple task of reflecting the lives of all children and families living in Australia - to be seen, accepted and celebrated. And with everything going on in the world right now, this is more important than ever.”

Everyone in the Play School team bring their full heart and expertise to make the program. To be given the opportunity to regularly step into the sensitive and imaginative world of the child is an extraordinary honour and perhaps this is why it is such emotional work.

On a personal note, it was a creative highlight and privilege to be invited to write the script, “All Together” which was submitted as our nomination. This script was both a deeply reflexive and collaborative process as we explored the concept of Allyship and how everyone deserves to feel welcome, included and to be treated with dignity and respect.

This award is an “All Together” achievement from EVERYONE in the Play School team which of course includes the OGs, The Play School Toys! 🥰

“The fun and joy of learning through play is the best and that’s what Play School will always do - Play first, School second. Here’s to another 60yrs!!” - Bryson Hall 🙌🏾

Cheers to that! 🫶🏽
Congratulations Play School and Happy Birthday!! 😘 🎈🎂 🎉

“All Together” episode is on @abciview @abckids 😉
