It’s Disability Pride Month! And here are 5 things I want you to know 👇🏼

1. Not all disabilities are visible, but all are valid! 🌻

2. Once we set our goals, there’s no stopping us! Determination runs in our veins 💪🏼

3. We don’t need your pity or tokenism, just a genuine chance to thrive! ✨

4. Advocating is awesome, but my hope is to get to a place where we don’t need to as inclusion is the norm! 🤞🏼

5. Have disabilities can be exhausting- especially when you’re represented by multiple colours on the disability pride flag like many of us are! But you can’t have a rainbow without a little rain! 🌈

Last week, I left the kids for the first time and hopped on a plane for Sydney. It was quite a big deal (I mean ordeal, for my husband). I can’t think of a better reason to have done that than to take part in AUStism 2025. It was especially significant to discuss PDA alongside the many other ways that autism can present.

Here are a few pics from the night. I got to hang with some fab people - proud autistic individuals, the families who love them, and the dedicated professionals and advocates who work tirelessly for this community.

Thanks for having me @autism_australia , I learned so much and had a blast!

2024 has been a year of celebration for me. To see a book I wrote on the shelves in Australia, North America, the UK and Brazil has been a little overwhelming and also surreal. I am so very grateful for every single person who has encouraged me, supported me and who have celebrated with me. And big thanks to all of the people who have given me and continue to give me, their stories. I love that I get to learn new ways of seeing the world each and every day.
