📍Somewhere between what was and what remains.

OPEN BUZLUDZHA 2026

Buzludzha is one of the most extraordinary and controversial monuments in Bulgaria.

Built during the communist regime, it is a powerful reminder of a difficult and painful past. And precisely because of that, I believe it deserves to be preserved.

Not to celebrate that past, but to understand it.

Because places like Buzludzha can help us keep memory alive, ask questions and look at history from different perspectives.

This is the work of the Buzludzha Project Foundation, founded and led by architect Dora Ivanova: years of research, documentation, conservation and practical work to give this extraordinary building a future.

And Open Buzludzha Festival is much more than a music festival. It is part of a long term project to bring people back to the monument, create awareness around its history and show what it could become in the future.

And this year, I had the privilege of being part of it.

I arrived three days before the festival and joined a team of around 40 volunteers, helping wherever I could.

As a cofounder of the association Balfolkariya and a Balfolk dance teacher, I also had the honour to partecipate officially in the program bringing live unplugged music and dances to the festival, together with Andy and Isabel from the Balfolkariya House Band, and Didi, the true driving forces behind our association.

Three times a day, in the square near the food trucks, we taught three circle dances: Circassian Circle, Chapelloise and Spanish Waltz.

It was a great honour to be there as a participant, but an even greater pleasure to be there as a volunteer.

So much energy. So many young incredible people working together.

And above all, the feeling of being part of something much bigger than those three days.

I am genuinely grateful to have met and worked alongside the whole Open Buzludzha team, and to have contributed, even in my own small way, to a project I truly believe in.

See you up there again soon. ❤️

Le luci del Palladium si spengono nel silenzio. Il tempo scorre tra le macerie, ma la musica risuona nei ricordi di chi ha vissuto quell'epoca d'oro. Oggi resta solo la nostalgia dell'ultimo ballo.
