thank you to everyone who joined us at @humtheoria last friday 💓 incredibly grateful to @godstooth for organizing and @chicagofirstchurch for hosting us for a truly special show. it is such a treat to be a part of a scene that supports our musical weirdness and ambition!

following up our couple weeks run of shows with some album time. headed to bloomington indiana tomorrow to cook with our friends of @edenlabrys :)

five months living in minnesota, and wednesday marks one week in minneapolis proper!! september was super busy for me, and i couldn’t have gotten through it without my loved ones. these next couple months are even busier, but i have no doubt i’ll get through em :)

Infinite love to @humtheoria for hosting @ameokama on one of the coolest gigs I’ve ever played. Nothing but sound and frequency to cling onto. I love making massive soundscapes with my cherished friends @nuhouseaki and @squalid_queen

skipper here. thank you so much to those that took part in our hostile takeover of the seward cafe this past weekend. when i moved up here back in may, i knew i would eventually drag this band up here, and i’m so glad i did. this was maybe the best show i’ve ever had the pleasure of playing, and it wouldn’t have happened without the bands that played and those that attended. as for what’s next, we’re probably going into hibernation for the fall/winter. while we won’t be playing any shows, we will be working on recording our debut. can’t promise a release date quite yet, but we will let you know as soon as we can :)

Well damn

Spending a month touring with @latter.band was an incredible experience that I’m still processing.

This was a very special band. Half of the normal members were on tour w their other band and were replaced by the incredible Ruby on drums and Emily on guitar. I thought Meri and Clem were going to make us listen to My Chemical Romance literally the entire tour but instead Ruby and I nerded out about jazz, and Emily taught me so much about metal, and Clem taught me so much about noise rock, and Meri slept in the back the whole time lol. We had amazing chemistry as musicians and as people, can’t wait to see you all again.

At some point in my life my goal stopped being to be a full time professional musician, which seems pretty rough tbh, and became to see how much of the world I could see making my weird art. This tour took me to so many states I had never even been to, let alone played in, and Canada. I am now an international performing artist, that’s crazy.

Equally crazy, was the response I received from the audience. So many people told me that they had never been to a concert w saxophone before, or never enjoyed saxophone playing before, or that they hadn’t heard anyone who sounded like me since the 90s. So basically, I’ve been right all along, your band does need more saxophone. It’s always true.

Huge thank yous to @faetooth for having us and @bossesband for opening. Y’all are incredible musicians and people.

Thank you to everyone to came to a show, worked at a show, put us up, and fed us.

Thank you to Abby Potts! Love of my life. For taking care of our cats and house in my absence. I missed you all so so much.

And the biggest thank you to Meredith Haines, I truly would not have guessed that we would end up in a band together after almost twenty years or friendship. You are absolutely KILLING IT and I am so so proud of you. Which is why I’m including this picture of you using a smelly boot as a cup holder.

This post was actually going to be a lot longer. I have a big announcement to announce soon too so stay tuned.

Finally recovered enough to say our first (nearly) full US tour is in the books. THANK YOU so much to everyone who came out to these shows, discovered us, sang along, danced, bought merch, or just supported us in any way. It was so amazing to play shows so far away from home and still see people singing along with me. This was the best month of my life so far and I will never forget this time.

Thank you so much to @faetooth for giving us the opportunity to perform in front of their fans every night. An amazing group of people and musicians. Thank you to @helloarjana for holding everything down and being the best and to @bossesband who are amazing. Thank you to @squalid_queen and @ruby.lucinda for filling in while Jon and Nic were off being rockers. Thank you @walrusmode one of my closest friends of 19 years for playing sax on this tour - we had no idea how it was going to go but it went better than I could have ever imagined.

When we started this band I was 33 had already given up on the idea of pursuing a music career- a very painful decision I made in my late 20s when I finally decided to call it quits after years of grinding. This band was never meant to be more than a fun side project to relieve some stress. I had no idea what was in store for me and that I would get a second chance at the thing I genuinely believe I was born to do. The 15 years of failure were all worth it and this band has made me believe that everything happens for a reason.

Thank you all for being here. Next up is Europe, and then new music out next year.
