✂️ 🥩 Join me this evening in creative cutting and stick fun, to engage with the ideas of my installation Surveyors of Flesh & Fish. 🥩 🏰

We’ll explore the idea of the body politic; the way communities have imagined society as a living body, with different people, groups and institutions forming parts of a larger whole.
Medieval pageants brought civic life, guilds, trades, religion and spectacle together in the streets, turning the city into a stage and the community into a moving, living body.

We’ll use collage as a way of constructing strange new worlds, cutting up and recombining imagery to create fantastical pageant wagons.

Baby Wants to Ride (the 609 to Spinners Mill in Leigh for a DJ set)!

First time I've ever got on that bus, and I'd never been on a Leigh-bound bus that continues after the station. Was happy about the USB plug (which we don't get on the 375/385), but that window shelf is far too high to rest your arm on. Used the journey to double-check whether I had enough songs to satisfy a potential dancefloor, but in practice the yoot were breakdancing to Bush Tetras' feminist anthem 'Too Many Creeps'.

The Shambles exhibition by Seeing Things continues until Friday. Get down there to see Klaire, Anna and Matthew's brilliant work before it ends and support your local artists!

I've also put the full playlist from the night together, so if you fancy some No Wave, mutant disco, art-funk and assorted Downtown New York weirdness, give me a shout and I'll send you the link.

Sonic Identity / Music Curation

For TERM School of Art's Artist Residency Exhibition at The Old Courts (as part of Wigan Arts Festival), I developed a sonic identity designed to sit alongside a diverse collection of physical and digital work without competing for attention.

Drawing on Japanese environmental music and the work of Hiroshi Yoshimura, the soundtrack used space, repetition, and texture to become part of the exhibition environment itself, encouraging longer dwell time and a more attentive engagement with the work.

🌟 New Exhibition | Northern Ecology 🌟

Celebrating my Masters Degree coming to its completion, the exhibition celebrates the research and material experimentation I have undertaken over the last two years.

Opening Night
 Friday 14th August | 7 – 9 pm

Workshops @spinnersmillleigh & @theoldcourts with @everydaywigan

❤️ Special thanks to @emily_prints_and_pots & @termschoolofart @annafcsmith @klairedoyle three amazing artists who’ve helped me up the ladder and @lottielouisewyatt the woman that she is and my own personal photographer.

Northern Ecology explores the storied relationship between people and the land through the lens of northern working-class culture. Rooted in ecofeminist thought, the exhibition considers the intertwined exploitation of women and nature, paying tribute to the unpaid and undervalued labour of women while examining the lasting social and ecological legacies of the Industrial Revolution.

📍 Leigh Spinners Mill, Horrocks Gallery, Floor 4, Park Lane, Leigh, WN7 2LB

🗓️ Exhibition runs: 14th - 23rd August 2026

We feature the amazing creative organisations in the North West. This time it's @theoldcourts Wigan.

The Old Courts Wigan is a not‑for‑profit, multi‑arts centre that plays a significant role in the region’s visual arts ecology. Housed in a former courthouse, it offers gallery spaces, artist studios, residencies, and regular exhibitions, creating an active hub for contemporary visual practice. As part of the Wigan Arts and Heritage Trust, it reinvests all profits into cultural projects, strengthening its commitment to accessibility and community impact.

The Old Courts hosts open calls, supports emerging and mid‑career artists, and integrates visual art into a wider programme of music, theatre, poetry, and community events. Its involvement in initiatives like the Wigan Arts Festival further amplifies opportunities for artists to exhibit, collaborate, and engage diverse audiences across the town.

Held at Pier 4, Wigan Pier, the Wigan Open Exhibition marked a welcome return after a hiatus, as part of Wigan Arts Festival. Previously hosted at The Old Courts, the exhibition moved venue while repair works are carried out on two of its spaces, due for completion later this year. The open call welcomed artists working across all mediums.

After a successful pilot scheme that ran from July – December 2025, The Old Courts and TERM Art Classes partnered up again to deliver a 2nd ROOM residency scheme. The new cohort of 4 artists were given free studio space at The Old Courts for 5 weeks. They were free to use the spaces to develop their practice, plus opportunities to exhibit and develop through funding talks, artist crits and skill shares.
