So blessed to be there to celebrate my lifelong friend @c.t.taylorsurfcoach 50th birthday today. One thing is @spacecoastboardridersclub 50's division just got even gnarlier lol. But most of all having you in my corner and being able to be there for you all these years is truly a blessing. We've shared so many things in life and continue to do so. You're an amazing friend, an amazing Father, a truly Legendary surfer and I'm so honored to be a small part of all of it. Our roots run deep! You're loved by so many. And I love you like a brother! Welcome to the club Carlton! Happy birthday! And thank u so much Mary Ann, Dave and TBone for putting this all together! 😎🤙🏼🎉💪🏼🙏🏽💙

Just got some fresh ink that is dear to my heart. This is for my best friend @andywebb1 who I miss everyday! The photo is from one of our many family trips up to the NC mountains and we just finished having a B-Day dinner for Andy @bearlakereserve clubhouse . After a few drinks Andy jumped on the Bear and rode the heck out of it. This became a tradition as we were always up there for his B-Day with close friends and family. Andy was such an inspiration to me since we were kids and I am so grateful I was able to have such a friend. His love for life, family and good times were always next level! He is still with me everyday and I wanted a big piece to represent that. Thanks @cashcombstats, you captured that amazing smile and infectious energy Andy was known for!!

Happy Birthday to my best friend @andywebb1. There is never a moment we are not still thinking of the amazing times we shared together. With tears and smiles we went offshore fishing in the Bahamas today to celebrate you. When I opened my tackle station there was your weight box that has always been on the boat. It meant more than gold to open it up and rig our lines with your weights. Shortly after we were blessed with a Frigate hovering over us and I felt so connected to you but at the same time such a hurting heart for wanting to be together again! RIP Andy Webb you will live forever in our hearts!! AW♾❤️

RODEO FOR ROB.
Instagram isn’t real. Intentional or subliminally all of us only tell half of the real story when we post on here. Take this post for instance…It looks like I took a trip to Florida to hang w/ friends & take photos. This is true but it’s only half the story. The real reason I booked a last minute ticket to Florida is that painfully I was there say goodbye to one of my most favorite humans. My childhood friend Rob Puleio. The one person who’s smile didn’t just make me smile back but full on laugh. We had been texting for months. He would ask me when I was coming to visit. I knew he was ill but was hoping for that miracle call that his cancer had been defeated. Unfortunately that call never came and having to jump on a flight to go there to say goodbye my friends, is the opposite of fun. If you know you know and if you don’t, you will. That’s really why I was in Florida. That’s why I cried every night while I was there and that’s why I still am. That’s the side of the story that if I didn’t mention, this post would be as fake as the filters I used. Yes I did take the opportunity to spend moments with as many friends and family as I could but that was a subliminal byproduct of having to say goodbye to one of my dearest. In hindsight, I wish I would have remembered to take a photo with each and everyone I saw but I didn’t. It’s a bizarre world we live in now. Death seems surreal because of all the digital images and videos and messages of the person gone we hold in our phones. It feels like they aren’t totally gone. A total mindfuck. Last year I shot an experimental short on this very subject all on my own. Just to see if it would resonate and help others dealing with today’s bizarre grief. It’s here on my instagram. Last night I found myself watching it. Ironically hoping it would now lend me comfort. This last week really emphasized that the only irreplaceable commodity we have is time and that I need to be better with how I spend it. I’ll post the story behind the old pics of Rob & I below in the comments for those who want to know why we were dressed like that. Longest caption ever.
