❤️ EAST JACKSON, YOU WILL ALWAYS HAVE A PLACE IN MY HEART! ❤️

Today, I had the pleasure of participating in the East Jackson Forum, a place that holds special memories for me. I grew up knowing East Jackson and even attended church there with my cousin Millie. It was wonderful to reconnect with community leaders and hear their concerns about the future of our community and our youth.

One of the major discussions centered on funding a juvenile detention center. While I understand that these facilities may be necessary, I believe we must invest just as much in prevention as we do in detention. We need more mental health services, youth mentorship programs, recreational activities, and opportunities that keep our young people engaged and moving in the right direction.

As the saying goes, “An idle mind is the devil’s workshop.” We must start investing in our children early, before they end up in the criminal justice system.

We also discussed the possibility of an all-male charter school at Lane College. Under my Moses Plan, I would explore legislation to support youth mentorship initiatives and innovative educational opportunities that help our young people succeed.

As your Independent candidate for Congress in Tennessee’s 8th Congressional District, I believe in investing in PEOPLE, not just building more systems to manage problems we could have prevented.

🗳️ Today is the second day of early voting! Let’s get the word out, take our family and friends to the polls, and vote INDEPENDENT for real change!

We cannot keep doing the same things and expecting different results. It’s time to put people before politics and give our communities a real voice in Washington!

🚨 MEMPHIS, IT’S TIME FOR ACCOUNTABILITY! 🚨

For years, voters in Shelby County have watched our elections face controversy, mistakes, and serious questions about how our election system is being managed. Accountability cannot depend on someone’s political party, position, or connections.

I am calling for Linda Phillips to resign as Shelby County Administrator of Elections. When public confidence in our elections has been damaged, leadership must take responsibility.

And I’m also calling out Erica Sugarman. Watch this video carefully and look at what happened one day before she appeared in court. There have been allegations involving political campaign signs, and those allegations deserve to be examined openly and fairly—not ignored because of who is involved.

These are dark and troubling times in Memphis, Tennessee, but we cannot allow darkness to become the standard.

Nobody is above accountability. Nobody gets a pass.

If you hold public office, you answer to the people. If you are responsible for administering elections, you have an even greater obligation to be transparent, competent, and accountable.

I will continue asking questions, putting concerns on the record, and demanding answers.

Linda Phillips needs to resign.

This isn’t about Democrats.
This isn’t about Republicans.
This isn’t about friends or political connections.

This is about the PEOPLE and the integrity of our elections.

WHY I LEFT THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY

I didn’t leave the Democratic Party because I stopped caring about people. I left because I learned that party labels don’t guarantee that someone will stand up for you.

My elderly mother and I went to Congressman Steve Cohen, a Democrat and one of the most powerful Democratic representatives in Tennessee, because we needed help. We believed that our elected representative would at least listen and try to help us navigate the situation.

Instead, I was told that he did not get involved in state affairs.

That experience taught me something important: representation should not stop at the boundaries of a political party, a government agency, or a jurisdiction.

When you are elected to represent the people, you have a responsibility to listen.

You may not have the authority to personally fix every problem. You may have to refer someone to another agency, contact another elected official, or explain what can and cannot be done. But turning your back on a constituent should never be the answer.

I am running for Congress because I believe government should work for the people—not just for political parties.

When I am elected, I will not ask whether you are a Democrat, Republican, Independent, or anything else before I listen to you.

If you are my constituent, you are my responsibility.

I will listen.
I will investigate.
I will make the calls.
I will connect you with the resources and officials who can help.
And if I cannot solve the problem myself, I will tell you the truth and help you find the next step.

I will never turn my back on the people who elected me.

This is why I chose independence.

I don’t owe my allegiance to a political party. I owe my allegiance to the people.
