“Hazel’s Holiday Cup,” 6” x 6” x 1-5/8” acrylic on wood panel. Part of my #artistsupportpledge commitment. In the 1950’s the Hazel Atlas Company released their “Candy Stripe” pattern, which featured red, brown, yellow, orange or turquoise stripes on a “modern” version of milk glass called platonite. This cup and saucer is from the red collection — and naturally, it made me think of the early 60’s TV show Hazel. I can imagine Shirley Booth (who played the feisty live-in maid, Hazel Burke) pouring herself a cup of holiday coffee in this cup and saucer set. (@terrysitz — that reference is for you!!!) And who doesn’t love some polka dots with their candy stripes?? Just brings out my ho-ho-ho! #contemporaryart #gallerywall #contemporaryinterior #artforinteriors #abstractstilllife #expressivepainting #stilllifeart #contemporarystilllife #artforthehome #smallpaintings #collectableart #artstudiolife #paintingwiththemillers #generousculture #dailypainting with @brianmillerart #paintingsmallandoften #hazelatlascandystripe #teacupsofinstagram #hohoho #candystripepattern #polkadots #holidaydecor #midcenturystyle
