Our third year doing @memorywalkandjog although this year was a difficult one for all 3 of us, I’m so proud of @terrythings and @linzpepa and to stand with them in supporting and raising awareness for dementia - those still living with it and their families.
A bond I wish we didn’t have to share but so thankful to have them by my side along with our loved ones and friends who joined us. The love and support is unmatched.
A huge thank you to everyone who donated, msged or joined us today we so very grateful. It’s not lost on us ❤️

Many of you might not know this but Ant Milne, The Nordeens drummer and one of my closest friends, was in a brutal motorcycle accident in late 2022.

Two destroyed wrists and major damage to a thumb (in surgery) and a couple of fingers. For the past three years he has been battling through a relentless series of surgeries while also navigating the emotional and legal chaos that followed. Through all that he has been steadily chipping away at one goal: getting back to doing what he loves.

That includes playing drums. The gig we have together next weekend is a huge moment.

2022 was a tough year for me too. I was struggling, making some fucking terrible decisions, and reaching out for help. Ant was the first to answer. He came out to my place in the bush and we went for a long hike. His strength, kindness, and brutal honesty were exactly what I needed.

Here is to you Ant! I cannot wait to share the stage with you again and feel the joy in all those wild raucous pop gems we wrote together.

🤯 This guitar tattoo was so solid and deep in the skin but we took our time over the last few years and after after 7 treatments (see next photo for the fade) it was ready to go. Expert cover-up by @joel_ang_tattoo at @dynamictattoo 🥲👌🏻

Backstage at Murdoch Uni, 2003. Ant, Matty and I caught in a blur of youth, noise and something as close to magick as I have ever felt (other than in nature herself).

We didn’t know it then, but that ferocious, messy, emotionally tangled sound we created would stay with us — and with many of you — for decades. It wasn’t polished, it wasn’t sceney, but it was fucking real.

We’re not chasing the past, this history is in our bones. And on 23 August, The Nordeens will be bringing that same heart to Amplifier, with songs old and new, and perhaps a little vinyl release and tee shirt or two in hand to offer our wondrous punters and fans alike!

It means something very different now, I’m not so personally messy and lost these days, that’s for sure. But maybe that makes this gig feel like it’s going to something more. An act of honour, a reverence back to those wildly wandering days. To three heart-ladelled boys aching to become men. And in that unbreakable bond, and amidst that anxious noise, there remains a feeling that will be celebrated in a way it never could back then.

We’d love you to be part of it.

#SaturdayStoryTime
As we get closer to dropping our debut album, I’ve been reflecting on how far we’ve come.

Three months into being a band, we launched our first EP in Sydney. The next day, running on no sleep and full of regret, we stopped for a pub feed before loading out our gear from the @thechippohotel .

While we were sitting there, we got a message on the band Instagram—from @zoktriv from @gyroscope.band —asking if we wanted to tour with them later that year.

Gyroscope was the first big band we ever got to support, and that tour ended up shaping so much of what came next. Their 4YRLV EP even helped influence our second EP massively and became a go to in the van.

TLDR: Shoutout to Gyroscope for taking a chance on a new band. That message meant so much to us.

BIG BIG NEWS

Never ones to shy away from a fight, The Nordeens have been holed up for the better part of ten years, battling their demons, wrestling their collective internal dialogue, and staving off the minacious march of time.

The Nordeens are pleased to announce the fog will lift just long enough to play ONE NIGHT ONLY at Amplifier Bar Perth on Saturday August 23 with very special guests Little Things and The City Views.

Join Matt Geary, Ant Milne and Glenn Musto, as The Nordeens revisit their catalogue with the wanton ferocity and callous determination one might expect from this paragon of discontent.
