POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

It’s been quite the week.

While swimming around in lovely memories of gigs in Galway, Clonakilty and Belfast (where the crowds sang like larks and cleared out the merch table each night), I awoke yesterday morning to find that the good people at the RTÉ Radio 1 Folk Awards have seen fit to nominate me, once for ‘Best Traditional Folk Track’, and once for ‘Best Folk Singer’.

It’s a very nice feeling. However, if I had one criticism, it’s that they have named me alongside various artists I love and admire - some of whom I’ve been listening to since I was a nipper - which I find to be a tad inconvenient.

It’s been such a pleasure launching ‘Mudlark Ballads’ into orbit these past few weeks and this has put a considerable gust in my sails. But we’re only getting started:

Tomorrow (the 18th), I head to the People’s Republic of Cork, for a gig in @coughlansbarcork alongside @podgelanemusic. Tickets in bio.

Next Thursday (the 22nd), I’ll be descending on @sandinosbarclub in Derry, for a gig alongside @tessio__ and @leeanntoland. Tickets also in bio.

And then on November 1st, I’ll bring it all back home in the @thesugarclub where the usual first Sunday session with @larrygotstretched will migrate across the water for one night only. Tickets very much in my bio.

Tell your friends, love your neighbour, and if you feel like singing, do sing an Irish song.

Consisting of musicians Callum Feeney and Jude McCandless, Tessio has been taking the Irish music scene by storm.

Renowned for their NI Music Prize nominations (including Best Live Act), they deliver a spellbinding live experience driven by intricate acoustic guitars and breathtaking, Simon & Garfunkel-style close harmonies.

Having already shared stages with major names like Billy Ocean, Joshua Burnside, and Muireann Bradley, this is a powerhouse live act you do not want to miss.

Nominated for Best Live Act at the 2025 NI Music Prize, ‘tessio’ are a singer-songwriter duo from Derry, - Callum Feeney and Jude McCandless. Influenced by Simon and Garfunkel and The Everly Brothers, they have been described as having, "a skill for songwriting way beyond their years." by Chordblossom. HERON RED
Mon 26 Oct, 4pm | The View Bar | FREE

Heron Red is a musical project born from the creative spark between two incredible artists, Molly Buchan and Callum Wall. Both are well-known in the Irish indie scene for their successful solo careers, and after years of playing in each other’s bands, they decided to team up in the Fall of 2024. What started as a way to perform their folk, Irish trad, and singer-songwriter songs quickly gained attention, and before they knew it, they were playing shows every week all across Ireland. As the buzz grew, Molly and Callum knew it was time to take their collaboration seriously, and Heron Red was born.
